You don't get a jury trial for a traffic ticket. You've been watching too much TV.

I got a ticket once that I didn't stop long enough at a cross walk. He said there were people waiting still to cross. It was bullshite. The next closest person was 20 feet away and was just standing there.

Pay the fine and buy a dashcam for less than $100 so next time these things aren't just your word against another's.

Best advice of the thread.

I went to court to fight mine in Lafayette for cop saying I didn't come to a complete stop which I did and when I pleaded not guilty at the arraignment they gave a court date and when I showed up and it was apparent that the cop wasn't going to be able to show up the public defender wanted me to change my plea to no contest and then pay the fine and won't go on my record as a moving violation. I said no I want a trial. The cop didn't show I got it dismissed. It is a racket and most of the time they know people don't have the time to deal with the headache or aggravation for me I worked an odd schedule so the court dates fell on my days off during the week so it wasn't nothing for me. Most of the time the cop will not show up for something that petty it just depends weather you want to deal with the aggravation of going to a court room. On the off chance the cop does show up it will be your word against his and then it is up to the Judge. It is the end the month they are trying to fill their quota, magic number, or whatever it is they claim to the public they don't call it. If you have the time to fight it I say go for it if not then pay it and move on it is up to you.

Not only a complete stop. You should count 1 thousand 2 thousand 3 thousand then proceed. This is what I was told by the state finest.

Happened to me once, if the stop sign is set back from the corner and you obey the law by stopping before the stop sign, then it looks to a cop around either corner like you rolled through. I tell my kids to stop twice at these, once behind the sign and once at the actual intersection.

Nothing pisses you off more than getting a ticket when you obeyed the law

One of the speeding tickets I got I was clearly not speeding. I had been stuck behind a slow RV on a 2 lane road in Sabine NWR for miles when I got a ticket for 10 over the limit; we were doing 5 under. Rural cops just picked me to meet their quota. All my other tickets I earned.

Is there a way to harness GPS technology to record your speed, stops, etc.; so you can easily prove it in court? We need a black box for cars.

Go back and see if the sign had one of those decals on the back. If not you should be home free.

I got pulled over one time and the cop said "I didn't stop long enough".

However, he ended up not writing me a ticket so I didn't have to fight it.

Then you have to explain to the cop why you have a dash cam. IF you think I am kidding, then you haven't met any of the cops in Mid City.

I've been stopped twice, by the same cop, for not coming to a 'complete stop'. The last time, I came to the intersection, looked left (clear), looked right (see vehicle which I identify as police SUV), looked left again (still clear), looked right again (plenty of room) and then crossed the intersection.

fricker then followed me for several blocks and pulled me over to tell me I hadn't come to a complete stop, but didn't write the ticket. Just felt like fricking with someone, I guess.
