What about the dispatcher that didn't relay the that the original caller had mentioned the gun may be fake.

They did show it back when it happened as well as saying the orange identification was missing.

No, it all went wrong when the brass decided to field a known-incompetent, weepy POS cop like this.

But taking the shooting into account on it's own merit, I don't see how murder charges can be brought with 100% certainty that it was murder.

Perhaps murder was the wrong charge. Perhaps the prosecutor intentionally went for something he knew would fall flat.

Either way, the jurisdiction is looking at a huge settlement award.

What the frick does him being emotional at some point in his life have to do with his effectiveness as a policeman?

If we went by this standard, no women should ever be allowed to be officers.

Quote the whole thing. Like this:

quote:

Hell, even if they did show it so people could clearly see that it is indistinguishable from a real firearm, it wouldn't matter. Just look at this thread for examples of the utter lack of brain power and common sense in use here. That's why "hands up, don't shoot" is still being parroted about, even though it's been proven (through witness testimony and physical evidence) that Michael Brown did NOT have his hands up nor was he surrendering.

I rest my case.

I'll add this... The county just recently received funding for body or car cams. If not for outside surveillance, this case never hits this board. Just another dead kid.

1. You never under any circumstance point a firearm at another person unless you intend to shoot them and also accept that they may shoot you. Kid never pointed his gun at anyone who shot him.

nice job negating the statement with a half proof.

If the kid pointed the firearm at anyone at any point (which he apparently did multiple times based on the call to dispatch) he broke this truth. PERIOD.

Nearly two years before he shot and killed a 12-year-old who had an air gun, Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann resigned from another police job after a supervisor described him as "distracted and weepy" and "emotionally immature."

Records from the Independence Police Department obtained by CNN include comments from a supervisor detailing what they called "a pattern of lack of maturity, indiscretion and not following instructions," a "dangerous loss of composure during live range training" and an "inability to manage personal stress."

"I do not believe time, nor training, will be able to change or correct these deficiencies," Independence Deputy Chief Jim Polak wrote in a November 2012 memo.

What does his former boss clearly identifying his irreversible deficiencies re fitness to be a cop out on the streets? I don't know. Why don't you tell me?

Disagree. If not for the video, the uprising for a dead 12 year old with a toy gun goes national. If anything the video helps support the statement that he was reaching for something near his waistband and supports the police statements.

There's so many issues.

1 - If an officer is deemed unfit for duty, why is he on duty?

2 - Why was the info about it most likely being a fake gun not relayed to the officer(s)?

3 - Why was Tamir walking around a park aiming a toy gun (without the orange safety feature on it) at people? Why did he reach for it when the police showed up? (looks like he did per the photo I posted)

What a lot of people are focusing on, is the officers having little to no time to react, whereas it looks as if Tamir saw them driving up. He had more time to think about his actions than they did, and he decided to reach for his gun.

It does seem a bit odd that they drove onto the grass near the only person there after getting a report of a possible gun.

But if the dispatchers didn't say anything about it being fake and my partner drives me right up to someone reaching for a very realistic looking gun...I'm shooting. And in my mind, I'm fully justified.

Disagree respectfully. The cops had no oversight. Nothing to dispute their written narrative of events... Kid with gun threatened their life. Problem? They barreled with feet of this awful deadly threat. I think they knew their mindset was eliminate the threat, harm be damned. They're fricking idiots for rolling up like that.

Good question. It's one the city might not even answer when they are rushing to reach a settlement prior to a verdict being rendered.

See above.

Well, we don't know that he actually was, do we? All we had was the 911 caller SAYING that, right?

Also, why was it necessary to tackle and cuff his 14 year old sister 2 minutes after he was shot?

Lots of question the city will have to answer. And they won't like the answers, so they'll be writing a gonzo-sized check.
