No, not really. Think about yourself at that age. Would you have known better than to play in an area like that? Would you have known how to act if a cop car drove right up to you? I wouldn't and don't think he did.

I'm sorry not defending a little shithead pulling a very realistic gun on people in a park and policeman makes me a "lousy" person.

You have to remove emotion and look at things logically. Not OMG A KID WITH A TOY WAS SHOT!!!!1!

12 year old kid.

Known POS who left his previous post for being mentally/emotionally unable to carry out his duties.

Refused to provide first aid to a dying kid in front of him.

Yes, I agree, you need to remove your ridiculous pro-cop emotion and look at the cold, hard facts.

Did you even watch the video? That little turd was pointing what looked like a real gun at everyone who walked by him. What are you going to do? Stop and pause to examine the gun he pulls on you to see if its real or a pellet gun. Do you have enough time?

those retarded fricks drove up within feet of someone that reportedly had a gun. Under what scenario does that make any sense?

Yep. If anyone is to blame it's the driver of the police car. I haven't followed the story, we're both the driver and shooter before the grand jury?

I would have known not to pretend to shoot people with a gun that looked like that

Well that's one persons opinion. In the minority however.

What do you mean? That was the report of his previous employer:
quote:

Nearly two years before he shot and killed a 12-year-old who had an air gun, Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann resigned from another police job after a supervisor described him as "distracted and weepy" and "emotionally immature."

Records from the Independence Police Department obtained by CNN include comments from a supervisor detailing what they called "a pattern of lack of maturity, indiscretion and not following instructions," a "dangerous loss of composure during live range training" and an "inability to manage personal stress."

"I do not believe time, nor training, will be able to change or correct these deficiencies," Independence Deputy Chief Jim Polak wrote in a November 2012 memo.

Was the "one person's opinion" you were referring to Chief Deputy Jim Polak?

I think everyone can agree that the gun looked real, but man, with the video and just how quickly the kid was shot.....this case has terrible optics.

Bad optics, absolutely. But "bad optics" =/= criminal act on the part of officers.

You're assuming they drove right up on him intentionally. They were responding to a call about someone pointing a gun at people. When they got there, he had the gun in his waistband (not readily visible). They probably drove right up on him, not realizing until the last second that he was "the guy" they were looking for. So now they're like, "Oh shite, this is the guy" and as they are jumping out, he's pulling the gun from his waistband.

I'm not saying it wasn't a bad deal, but it certainly wasn't criminal on the part of the officers. Criminal charges were declined...because they didn't do anything criminal. Nothing else.

I dont know anything about this 12 year old kid, but I can tell you 12 year old kids in NOLA would know what they are doing. These 12-13 year old kids here commit armed robberies and shite, with real guns, not fake ones.

Well he's not a 12 year old kid in NOLA. He's a 12 year old kid in Cleveland so your point doesn't make sense

If you pointed realistic looking toy guns at people in a populated area and then at a cop, you would be somewhat responsible for your actions as well. There are other factors that make this situation terrible like the no treatment and cops history, but the kid still has to have some accountability for his actions.

There was no possible way he did not put that car too close to the kid.

You try doing what they did under the same pretenses and see if criminal charges are filed against you.

I'll allow that a kid in his situation possibly should have known better. Even if I put some blame on him I still think the officers should have been charged with something.

That was the only point I was trying to make.

But what would you have charged them with?
