That's what I heard. Did you take the MS Bar? I took it in 2012.

How was the MS bar as compared to LA, I may have to take MS in February.

It depends on what kind of test taker you are. MS has the MBE, and lots of people don't do well with multiple choice. I excel in tests like that, so I crushed it.

Warning: On the essay portion, I encountered a big essay question (worth like 800 points) on Evidence that only referred to the rule by their number, not their name. Not the easy numbers either, like 404 and shite. I'm talking rules you wouldn't normally know the number of.

The MBE is foreign to me, if you don't mind me asking what did you do for prep?

MBE is 7 subjects: torts, evidence, real property, criminal law/procedure, conlaw, contracts, civpro. It's COMMON LAW, so don't try to answer with MS state rules.

It's 190 to 200 questions total. Passing is usually around 125/200.

The only way to do well is to do as many questions as possible and see where you frick up.

If you can't eliminate all but 2 answers just by glancing at them, you might as well pack your shite and go home. It always comes down to two answers. You have to pick the BEST one. Only one best answers the question stated. So, when you get down to two, go back and read the question REALLY CAREFULLY.

Laws are relatively stagnant over time. Facts are manipulated to fit the laws.

Assuming you meant "laws". We just got over 400 new ones today, written by lawyers. It's a couple threads up. Or down maybe, because I guess I'll be bumping this thread.

Laws are written by legislators.

ETA: thanks for pointing out that error

Yeah. It's a profession that's based on taking profit from selling a man what is rightfully his. There are lower things that a man could aspire to do, but not many.

Sad to see a once-great troll reduced to this.

I quit with the "trolling" bra. And I was never that great, but thanks. I'm just an idealist with a pension for hating lawyers, car salesmen, and women who lie about herpes.

Too much Aaron Sorkin I guess. Probably should have outgrown that shite in my twenties, honestly.

Who better to write laws than the people who spend their lives reading, studying, and applying the law?

That's like saying we need doctors to make new diseases so that doctors can cure those new diseases. We need less laws and less lawyers.

Consider how many brilliant minds we've lost to the law profession. If we had half of those brains working to try and solve real problems, instead of finding new ones that don't exist, then we might have cured cancer or ended hunger. But instead we have all these super intelligent people actively working against society instead of for it.

That's certainly an interesting way to look at it. Your hook is a but too shiny, but you'll get some bites. Good luck

Lawyers are the reason we have seat belts, child proof prescription bottles, safety glass and other safety features that regularly save lives. Lawyers hold companies accountable when they put profit before people's safety. They also make sure the person selling you their house actually owns it and that your kids get an inheritance instead of the federal government. Knowing a good lawyer can save you big money in lots ways over the course of a lifetime. I also agree with the proverb from Life's Little Instruction Book-Avoid like the plaque any lawsuit. But if it happens to you, best to have the best legal counsel you can afford.

They don't give CALIs for the bar exam and certainly not for individual tests.

No hook bra, when I "troll" I usually have a punchline in mind, this is just a decent argument worth having.

Honestly if my kid told me they wanted to go to law I'd suggest nearly anything else and I'd be pissed at myself for raising them to think that self interests trump society's interests.

I've had this debate with buddies in real life, I get that I'm in the minority. But it's an idealist position and with wiki gone, someone had to stand by their guns on whackadoo shite.

This is twice you've mentioned you're an idealist. Which by definition means you aren't a realist. Which by definition means you live in this place:

I wish I could do the same, but sadly, I cannot. Reality is reality. Civilization, imperfect as it is, is built on the rule of law. Without law, we revert to our baser selves. If that's what you want, then I hope you are euthanized so as to avoid your stupidity infecting others.

And it's "penchant," not "pension."
