The nightclub fire that just happened in Romania reminded me of this nightclub fire in Rhode Island.

Kind of morbidly interesting, but there was a a Best of Reddit post recently that detailed how people die during crowd trampling/stampeding events. This incident was cited during the post as to how these things happen and how people die during such events.
But, yeah, a truly horrific event, made even moreso by the knowledge that these people's last breaths were at a trivial fricking Great White concert.

Man that cameraman was smart. He was the only one moving backwards when he saw the flame happen. You can see how easily he moved through the crowd in the beginning.

10 seconds probably saved his life. His moving to the door early, probably saved him.

Traffic. People panic. People fall when pushed from the back. People behind those people fall on top of those, while the bottom are trying to get up, grabbing ankles, the wall, anything to stand. Then the people behind those people fall right on top of them and get tripped themselves.
It's a bad situation, but it escalates quickly when 400 people exit through the same door and start running. Remember all those fire drills where they tell you to walk with your hands at your side and don't run? That's why. If you start running first, everyone starts running, and then people start tripping. Then you're all dead unless you're lucky enough to escape the squabble.

From what I remember from this is that the Station Nightclub has ALL exit doors chained off because they did not want people trying to sneak in without paying. That was the big lawsuit thing that happened with this incident.
One thing I have learned from watching this.. the minute you think something might be wrong.. react. Waiting 10-30 seconds can get you killed.

That's one of the most screwed up, disturbing videos I've seen in a long time. Walk, don't run....and always locate the nearest exits in a crowded area.
