They have cleared the brush on the northside and are currently moving utilities. They modified all the pipelines running parallel to the RR tracks and are currently relocating the water lines.

It has begun.

Also, they are widening the bridge at Lee and Burbank right now, although i havent seen any info on that specific project.

Utility relocation work has been underway for several months.
They also demoed that quaint, little church that was close to the highest.

It seems they are close to starting on the road itself.

Here we are over a year later, and the Green Light website has the same status update regarding the project.

Wow, only took 3 years to get started. That's a new record for BR.

I'm not sure, but if I had to guess, it's the railroad holding shite up. Railroads are accountable to no one. They are a major pain in the dick to deal with, if you unfortunately have to deal with them in any capacity. The land is theirs. It was given to them by the federal government years ago. Even local police have no jurisdiction IF the railroad chooses to ask them to leave their property.

They are most likely waiting until mid August to start the real brunt of the project and they will only work during the day. This is what they always seem to do in BR. Wait until school is back in to frick shite up.

Right of Way.

Negotiating and making progress with railroad companies is a ridiculous process. Because of their political power, they make the rules and rules often change. The issue of the RR crossing for this project was a known problem from concept.

They should start it in september so that it will back up contra flow leaving the lsu game. I, personally would love the extra two hours in the car bonding with the family.

Construction will span over a year anyway so avoiding a football season would be pretty much impossible, however, there are restrictions on lane closure times to only nights and none on weekends when LSU and So. Univ. have home games.

Have they release any updated drawings for the intersection? Also, shouldn't they be widening Nicholson to gourrier at the same time? As soon as they get the intersection fixed they will begin widening Nicholson which will make the new intersection useless until that construction is finished.

One more question, are they widening Lee from Nicholson to highland, or just adding a single lane by the Winn Dixie? Seems like a lot of work expanding that bridge just for a turning lane.

I can tell you from other engineers' experiences that dealing with railroads, especially with ROW, is one of the most excruciatingly painful design experiences for engineers.

They don't like to budge on anything

And take for-fricking-ever to do anything at all. The railroad is 100 times worse to deal with than the worst government org.

That turning lane has got to be the most expensive ever.

It looked like construction was finally going to start a few months ago...no it looks like nothing is going on at the intersection. Anyone know when this is supposed to start? Are they waiting on LSU to let out for the summer before starting the lane expansion?

No need for it anymore seeing as how the traffic issue was fixed several years ago.
