but Charleston...the place you are wanting to live in, is pretty freaking expensive

This exactly. Unless you are loaded, you'll be living in a shoebox or sharing an apartment, not exactly a lifestyle I want with my wife and kids.

That being said, it's a great place in your 20's, but probably not a good place if you are career oriented.

I love Mount P, but it's really not much different than any other suburb, other than access to the beach. For me, I didn't go that often when I lived in Charleston.

Well Charleston was me and the wifes #1 choice for a move if we decided to stay in the South. This thread has pretty much killed that idea.

Thanks, assholes.

Moving with a job, or be looking when you get here?

Charleston is great, super cool place to visit...but there's just not a ton of opportunity in my experience.

a lot of people do really well for themselves here. I'm not sure what you're referencing with that statement.

Are you just saying this cause you're comparing it to where you live now?

Mount Pleasant is what it is: a nice suburb of downtown. I don't think I've heard anyone say it's so much better than any other suburb of *insert city* or something to that effect.
