Worth it when you realize you're living in a world-class city on the cutting edge of business, technology, food, arts.

Yeah but look at all of the amenities and quality of life you get.

I have always thought NOLA to be a tad bit pricey, don't know why

It's factoring in the immeassurable price of a life.

times 300 (or however many murders happen on a yearly basis there)

I’m skeptical at best. I’d definitely lower my quality of life by moving to la, Austin, or Chicago. Atlanta and Dallas might be close.

Problem in New Orleans isn’t the lack of housing stock.

But it doesn’t help having a lake, river, and marsh/swamps around the whole city that prevents massive expansions of nearby housing stocks.

Too much of the available housing are in no-go zones.

That will happen when no-go zones make up more than 50% of the city.

I have no clue what data they're using, but I know for a damn fact the COL in Birmingham is not higher than Atlanta.

Housing prices have jacked up since 2018, but everything else in SLC has remained fairly low.

Came here to say this. Was surprised to see SLC and Knoxville so far down the list. Both of which would make excellent retirement destinations.

I have been to Buenos Aires...I remember eating very good steak dinner with drinks and dessert (for 2) at not quite Ruth's Chris but close... For about 30 bucks. I was going to Iguazu and the hotel offered to drive me instead of a taxi...big Mercedes vs taxi for 30 pesos I gave the driver 100 pesos ( about 35 US then) ....when I came back to BA and walked back into the hotel... That driver saw me and came up and said " you need anything... You let me know..."

The funny part is .. Leaving, at the airport in security and the guy in front is an American working in BA... And complains about how expensive things have gotten there "basically doubled in the last couple of years". My wife and I looked at each other in shock because we thought the cost of living was dirt cheap

I can verify that BA is low in that list. I would retire there but keep my money in another country and have some spare cash stored away

There is no way this list has any accuracy.

Any idea how much lower BR is? From what I'm seeing BR is only slightlty better than NO when it comes to COL.

Even USAA is now refusing to write policies in NOLA

USAA is still issuing homeowners, flood and auto in Orleans; and at reasonable rates. Still high compared to most places, of course.

See that’s what I like about New Orleans.

Work on attracting jobs so people buy here and clean some of the trash areas up instead of moving to the next middle class subdivision and eventually everything in the area going to shite.

I maybe a dreamer, but I’m not the only one
