Is this a serious post? Canada isn't a third world country. You'll be fine. Plus, Canadians are some of the nicest people I've ever met. The biggest culture shock is that they call their Dunkin Donuts, "Tim Horton's".

If someone asks you to play some Stick 'n Puck, its not what you think it is.

They are nice people, but English is a second language in a large chunk of it.

I guess I'll take your word for it, Alt26. I remember a movie when I was a kid about Amercia going to war with Canada. It had John Candy in it. Always gave me nightmares and I've been leery of Canadians ever since.

The friends I'm going to hang with say it's cool and I trust them, was just looking for a little validation. Thanks!1

True true. Every Canadian I've ever met apologized profusely for unleashing Justin Bieber.

The part of Canada just north of N Dakota is basically the same as America. You want be able to tell the difference

I am heading to North Dakota and thought it would be kinda cool to check out Canada. I've never really been to a foreign country though and am worried about little stuff like drinking the water and if I will stand out. Plus other nations kind of hate Americans. Anyone have any experience with Canada? What kind of culture shock can an American expect, mates?

Usually all is fine. Try to look up how to dress like canadians. As you know, they are majority white, so you'll fit right in.

However, once you open your mouth you'll stand out like a sore thumb. If you piss them off, Canadians have a reputation of skinning Americans alive and feeding them to bears. Well, at least i've heard that from a few folks.

Good to hear. Kind of weird considering it's a totally different country and what not. I've also heard that if you go to jail over there, you're basically be locked up for life.

I believe it was Jamaica who went to war with the savages to the north in that movie.

Bring your own smokes
End sentences with "a".
Say "no worries" a lot.
Try a "blue rare" steak.
Say you love Rush.
