Yep. And it's kind of expensive. It costs like $300 after you take the mandatory class. I think that's about how much I spent (it's been a few years since I got mine)

Never give the government your fingerprints. I’ve had 3 family members arrested that way.

If you want to get your permit fast go the LSP headquarters in Baton Rouge for fingerprinting. Once you do that and pay you should have in in two weeks.

If you go elsewhere there is no telling when your permit will come in.

I went to the LSP to do my CC application towards the end of last year and it took 2 1/2 months for the permit to come in. That's was due to the presidential election and the sudden increase of applications. Hopefully it's gotten better.
