Looking for something in SELA that is a good day hike. I've done some googling but info on trails doesn't seem to be updated that often. Anyone here have anymore info to share?

Can't help with southeast LA, but we do Clark Creek in southern Mississippi and enjoy it. It's about 2.5 hours away from New Orleans.

Jean Lafitte Nat'l Historic Park and Preserve has some great boardwalks and such.

There are also some newer boardwalks and trails in St Tammany, not sure where they are.

It's pretty nice weather in SELA for hiking about now.

Clark creek for a nice challenge. Good hills. Great boulders to hop. Deep ravines. Nice waterfalls.

There are some easy winding paths at the civil war siege site a few miles north of Baton Rouge, at Port Hudson. Plus exhibits & a museum.

Google Louisiana Hiking Club. They have a bunch of trails listed. There's also a book "50 Hikes in Louisiana"

The best hiking in this area is Clark Creek, or Clear Springs Rec Area - both just across the state line in Mississippi.

Fausse Point State Park, Fountainblue State Park, and Chicot State Park have great trails also.

This is the only thing really all that great to me. It really is the only hike I would consider anyway until it cools down some.

Try the Backbone trail in Kisatchie. Very unique terrain for La. 8 miles with camping allowed.

I'm in Houma. I can leave out of Slidell but I really want something I can do that day and head back that evening.

Chico state park has a 20 mile loop around the lake. Never been but hear it is nice.

I know you want a day hike but they have primitive campsites on that trail for backpackers.
