Say that you recently spoke to God to confirm you are not going to Hell so you don't need to go, but strongly encourage them to attend because you are worried about their future with the Big Guy.

Tell them the truth on why you don't want to go. If not just go. Lying to them would be the worst part.

I used to be a militant atheist and i made myself and the people around me miserable. Eventually I grew up and stopped that shite.

Now, i follow the practice of stoicism and the buddha.

Much better life.

I advise you to go and enjoy the fellowship with your grandparents. It won't hurt and religion isn't catching.

All of my grandparents have passed away as of 7 years ago(I am 29). I would give anything to spend time with them in this season of my life. Go man!!!

One of these days, and trust me on this, you'll be in a place where you would give anything to spend an hour doing something for your grandparents to be with them and make them happy.

This. It's been 7 years since my grandfather passed and 5 years since my grandmother passed.....and I miss them so much. I would give anything to have one more day to spend time with them and just hear about their lives long before I was born. I bet they had some amazing stories to tell that I never asked when I had the chance.

This is your grandparents, can't you indulge them for a little while? Sometimes you have to quit thinking about yourself and think about others.

Tell them you don't feel well and just crawl back in bed. Go to Waffle House when they leave

I don't have any interest in that sort of thing.

As someone that doesn't have a grandparent left, I hope you get dick cancer for not wanting to spend time with them. I'd pay $10,000 for another year with my grandparents. Suck it up you pussy.

So the same thought process that convinced you that you didn't believe in God, is now telling you to avoid your grandparents?

Might want to revisit what sources you draw on, when formulating your values?

No he wont. lol. Just cause people die isnt an excuse to go to a fricking prayer day at a town hall. I dont think yall are really giving this the credit it deserves as being high on the "frick doing that shite" list.

A small Texas town prayer day??? At a town hall????

what the frick happens to us when we get old that makes that sound like something that would be fun?

You're pretty pathetic and I say this for a couple of reasons. First off, do you really need TD to help you come up with an excuse to not attend a religious function? No, you do not. You are using this as an excuse to let us know that you don't believe in God. That's all this is. You're trying to earn cool points from the OT. Pathetic.

Secondly, it's a way for you to spend a day with your grandparents who in all likelihood will pass before you do. Hopefully you will miss them when that happens and cherish all the times you did get to spend together. Mine are all gone now, and I can't tell you how much I would give to spend one more day with them. I don't believe in Santa Clause but if either of my grandparents wanted me to go to a Christmas event tonight I would be there in a heartbeat.

Sounds like a Baptist thing. They love having big gatherings and then hitting everyone up for money.
