Anyone familiar enough with these two places to compare them? What would be the pros and cons of actually living in each (i.e. not just there for a tourist's visit)? No kids so schools wouldn't be an issue.

I already have an idea of where this is going to go, but I'm hoping that someone will come through with some solid information, as I'm currently facing a tough job decision.

Does the Memphis job pay you a good amount more? If not, Nashville.

well this thread has made it perfectly apparent that you have never been to both cities before.

This isn't just a "not even close" kinda thing, it's a landslide. As in, unless memphis is doubling or tripling what you'd make in nashville, you'd be insane to live there over nash.

No, but based on a cost of living comparison and how much I would potentially save it feels like it.

You will get Nashville from every response to your question and Nashville is the only, repeat Only answer. The only redeeming quality about Memphis is.......hold on, I'm thinking. Nope, sorry, there are no redeeming qualities to Memphis

Proximity to Tunica is the only thing I can think of.

I lived in Memphis.

The only city I've lived in worse than that is New Orleans.

Now, I've never lived in Nashville, but I've visited the city enough to know that this should not even be a debate for you.

Even in they pay you a little less, and even though cost of living is higher...take Nashville 100 out of 100 times.

People actually like visiting New Orleans. Memphis is New Orleans without any of the charm.
