Was hoping they would move in a way that would actually prove something, but they left in a pattern that could allow them to be just about anything.

Like any kind of directional change that would show it's not a small piece of debris coming from something. Shoot, it could be three larger meteors coming from behind Earth for all we know.
If it stopped for a second then started moving again, if it changed directions, if it changed color, if it sped up or slowed down... These would all be a better indication that it wasn't just a rogue piece of space matter.
