God forbid you just place the blame on the kid that was on drugs and banging on a police station. There's a novel concept. This kid is dead because of his own stupid decisions. And a jury finds the cop not at fault, but that's still not good enough for all the cop bashers here. There is no pleasing y'all.

Him lunging at a cop doesn't? Regardless of if they've had training or not, cops are still humans. His first instinct when he felt threatened was to shoot the threat. Why should he be punished for that?

So he came out gun drawn with his safety off?

How do British cops handle their drunks/highs?

That's like your opinion man. You weren't there, so you have no idea if it was justified or not. But that will never stop you and other cop bashers from literally always finding fault in cops' actions.

Answer me this, has a cop ever done anything right in your eyes?

Good life advice for you then, don't become a cop.

No thanks. Cops are assholes. I don't want to get arrested or shot.

Yes. Cops have saved lives.

It's the tax collecting, douchebag attitudes, and the ability to get away with breaking laws the rest can't that pisses Scruffy off.

One of those is from Canada. Different departments have different mottos. I believe that is NOPDs motto and they are the only department in or around New Orleans that operates under that motto as far as I know.

And I assume even after a grand jury, you're still convinced that laws were token here?

Eta: And I'm not claiming all cops are great people or good at their jobs, before someone tries putting those words in my mouth.

Questioning the death of an un-armed college student is just crazy

Please tell me what you would do if you're a cop, your investigating some noises one night, or looking for a suspected criminal, and then all of the sudden you see someone lunging at you out of no where??

Anyways, the Supreme Court ruled that police do not have to protect

Different than us. Doesn't make it better. The cop felt threatened and reacted. It's easy to say it was too much when you weren't in his situation and have all the details now. He didn't at the time. All he heard was a suspicious character banging on the windows and said person lunged at him.

Likely, yes.

We are left with only that cop's telling of the events, correct?

It was questioned, then ruled on by a grand jury. Yet here you are still not satisfied.
