I have no problem with the app being on your son's phone. At the outset, however, I would have let him know that it is on the phone as a condition of him having it.

Sorta, but not really. This is akin to eavesdropping on your kids conversations with another person while they're not at home. Kinda weird. Also, I hate that kids have access to technology like cellphones and the internet. I know it's just the times and it will never change but I still think it's stupid. My kids will get cell phones when they start driving.
