When I was stationed in Oki & Lejune, every time colors would come on, it seemed like most folks would run under cover so they wouldn't have to stand at attention & salute.

They would also laugh at folks who got caught outside while colors were on.

I find it funny how some military guys are so vocal about players protesting, yet they hated to stand at attention for the anthem on base.

Just a friendly reminder that if you were, or one of those guys, you shouldn't be saying anything about the players.

Most of the vocal vets are specialists/privates who got out claiming some bullshite disability they had before they joined to get disability checks. They never seen actual combat. Or it's the spouses of vets who think they served because their spouse did.

But that was like all the time. The anthem for fans and players is 16 times per year.

Get over it already. Don't infiltrate TD with your Facebook drama.

I find it highly unlikely that you were stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, but are unable to spell it correctly.

I'm going to go ahead and call bullshite on your story. If you were a Marine, you'd have a little more pride than the bullshite you just spewed.

ETA: I was on Okinawa for a year, go ahead and tell me which camp you were on...

If you hated the anthem so much good thing you are out of the service. I remember guys like you ducking in doorways and giggling, congratulating yourself on your cleverness.

I'm a veteran in a family full of Veterans and we feel differently about the anthem having worn the uniform.

By the way, thank you for your service. Sorry the anthem, or was it revellie and taps, was such a bother

Actually if he were a Marine, the chances of him spelling it incorrectly are far more likely.

Yeah there's a difference. i was in alaska and it was usually pretty cold when they would play it so i would get to a building or a car so i wouldn't have to stand in freezing weather for a few mins.Other than that i had no problem with it.Glad you made the comparison though between people that dont make a whole lot of money and put their life on the line to millionaires who have to do this maybe 20 times a year. Great comparison

There are soldiers who hide from "Reveille" which I understand is the raising of the flag, but never for the actual Anthem or Taps (which is played at Fort Hood). Taps I would argue would actually bring soldiers out from inside of their Barracks at midnight and salute the flag when it was played every night.

Speaking of...is there a more gut wrenching anthem than that of "Echo Taps". Immediate feels!!

Echo Taps

What pissed me off more is when dudes wouldn't stop for Taps.

I guess it doesn't mean anything until you hear it played for a SM who didn't come back.

Did I say I didn't stand at attention?! What the frick are you talking about?

I'm speaking on the guys who ran from colors but have something to say about players protesting.

To a certain extent, but a little less so, because they are calling out those breaching a social norm, so I'm able to distinguish the two scenarios. Your mileage may vary.

I miss 1 fricking word and now I'm a fake?

I was stationed on Camp Schwab.
3rd MAR DIV
CEC company
UT platoon

I spent most of my time in Nago because all you dumb asses were in Naha all the time at it was nice not being around so many Marines. And the little village next to Schwab had the best taco rice on the whole island.

I'm really getting downvoted because I'm saying pussies who ran under cover during colors shouldn't call out players protesting? What in the entire frick..
