I woke up Friday morning to see purchases from this place. Unless I went on a crack binge that I'm not aware about, I don't think it was me spending money at this fine establishment.

There was also a charge from Google Crowdstar which is "premier mobile entertainment company for women".

And last but not least, a $57 Entergy bill pay. I sure as shite wish my bill was only $57.

Thankfully Chase is quick to get on it and I already have the purchases refunded along with a new debit card. I'm wondering if there is any action further I can take to get the person responsible. Somebody dumb/brazen enough to pay a bill on a stolen debit card deserves to be caught.

You were very very very lucky to get purchases reimbursed on a debit card.

Police report and refer them the account number on the energy bill paid.

Sadly, no one's doing shite about a few $50 purchases. Seems if they paid their energy bill it would be an easy bust but nah....

Should be easy to find, but they probably have the bill in one of their kids' names.

Who the hell still uses a debit card for everyday purchases?

Debit cards are for poor people or people who don't know how to manage credit.

Get an Amex Gold card or Platinum card if you want a charge card instead of a credit card

Why? This has happened to my family a few times over the years and the bank has always returned the money no problem.

I've had so many fraud charges on my Chase card, I will never use them again.

Unless it's an absurd amount that they stole the police will laugh at you. Jackasses hit my debit card up a few years ago at a Dollar General in NOLA. They bought over $500 worth of giftcards. I called the Dollar General and they knew exactly who it was and said that they had video surveillance of the culprits and to notify authorities. I called NOPD and they wouldn't do a damn thing because it was only $500.

Chrysler 300

The sad thing is, the cops probably have all the info to track the perps down, especially with the Entergy bill. But nothing will ever happen. They've got bigger fish to fry.

Several years back, my wife and I were robbed at gunpoint. She was the treasurer of her sorority and had the sorority phone card(yeah this was a WHILE back).
A month later she gets the bill and it has 3 pages of long distance calls with the home number the calls originated from. I call the BR police department thinking we've got a slam dunk. And they have me fax them the pages but said nothing will come of it. I pretty much lost faith in the justice system at that time. As no one was shot or killed, they DGAF.

I think that's still misdemeanor theft at that point, and (disregarding the statue stuff) NOLA has a whole lot more to worry about than misdemeanors.

In a town I used to live in that wasn't crime-addled, the cops were overjoyed to have security footage of a $17 fraudulent purchase at the gas station.

That's why I'm a proponent of broken windows theory. When you let little shite like this slide, it creates a bigger problem. One of the reasons the picture of that place is the epitome of NBR is because they don't crack skulls over the little things like they should be doing.
