I have Ehlers Danlos as well, actually. Not sure what that has to do with antibiotics.

Like I said, not so much that your are going forward with a lawsuit. More to send a scare towards them.

It is a big deal to me when my daughter has a primary immune deficiency as well as Ehlers danlos syndrome which I explained to the pharmacist. Her medical needs are difficult enough as it is without this.

If the over-dosages require additional medical treatments and expenses, I'd consider consulting an attorney if the pharmacy doesn't seem amenable to covering those for you.

If its simply 3 or 4 days of additional discomfort. Vent here, use another pharmacy, and move on.

It's kind of chickenshit of them to try to shirk responsibility, but for your peace of mind it probably isn't a big deal. What's the name of the med?

I have no idea what the syndrome is...can taking extra antibiotics cause any complications?

1) Call your doctor's office and ask if there is a concern. Let them know about the mistake in case there've been other concerns with that pharmacy.

2) If you think the pharmacist isn't sympathetic to your concern, then switch pharmacies.

One concern that jumps to mind is Crohn's disease / colitis type issues from the antibiotics wiping out all her healthy gut flora. I know a couple of people who've been really messed up this way. Hopefully, that wouldn't happen with her. Maybe one step you can do is to encourage your daughter to eat gut healthy / fermented foods: yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, cottage cheese, etc. Colostrum supplements may help, too, if you sense there may be gut issues.

The bigger concern is the immune deficiency as she already has significant GI effects from it.

Her immunologist already called the pharmacist and tore him a new a-hole over this so I am satisfied. He also gave us a game plan on how to handle the after effects and what to do regarding the original treatment intent going forward.

If she is willing, try and have her eat yogurt with probiotics. It will help her digestion get back to normal.

The pharmacy is basically saying no big deal since she's not having major reaction to it. F them for trying to downplay their mistake

So you'd prefer that they say it IS a big deal that she's not having any major reaction when in fact it's not a big deal by any stretch of the imagination?

Just go ahead and hire a lawyer since it's obvious you want compensation for this.

What do you want them to do? Beg for forgiveness and then shoot themselves in the head?

It most likely isn't a big deal.

edit: I see you got what you wanted. Just them to feel pain. I guess i get it because of the immune thing.
