Not the northern tool blue one..
They opened that up and a lot of the internal shite was plastic. Stay away from that one
Haha, I have a northern tool one....Powerhorse. Where'd you see that review. I've only seen mostly positive reviews. What did they "open up". Too late now, but definitely would like to know what to look out for

Did you find a NG connect kit? I have that generator and need one.

The natural gas connection on the Firman is the same spec as any natural gas barbecue grill. You can get a 10 foot natural gas hose and a quick release connection for the gas side of the setup at Home Depot or Lowes in the grill aisle. Not expensive at all.

So I have a Built In BBQ pit connected to NG. Can I piggy back off of that myself or do I have to call the gas company to do it?
Posted on 9/6/21 at 10:23 am to LSUlefty
I would definitely try it and see before calling anyone.

If you get the hose and connectors you need, looks pretty easy. Like hooking up a water hose to a sprinkler, easy.
Turn the red valve off, where it is perpendicular to the pipe and go for it.
And it would be a plumber you call, if you didn’t feel comfortable.

I may do that just to be safe

We have a connector just like that for our bbq pit. I guess one of those tri fuel generators may be a good idea.

Picked this Firman up at Lowes Friday before the storm. It was the last one from last years stock, box was all beat to shite, guess that's why no one bought it. Got it for $849 and paid $800 with 5% off and six months interest free with a Lowes credit card. We lucked out... Usually sells for $1049.00
Running like a champ. Only used gas in it so far...

From what I'm reading, you need to confirm if the supply pipe is 3/4". That looks like it may be 1/2". May not supply suficient volume at the needed pressure for a larger generator. If it's not a long run of 1/2", it shouldn't be a major issue. Mine is necked down from 3/4" to 1/2" right at the red shut off valve. Haven't tested it yet, but hoping that's not an issue. If it is, I'll have to fix that.

Costco has the Firman 7500W Running / 9400W Peak Tri Fuel Generator Item #1300533 on sale thru 09/07 for $899 ($999 less $100 sale). They are not in stock but should be delivered to home in 2 weeks.
Given I have LP already piped in for my grill I bought one as backup because of the issues I read about here getting gasoline for a my older gas 8500W this week.
It should run a limited portion of my house for any blackout we may have and has already given me peace of mind. I can now also loan out my other one to someone in need.

Yes you can. It's the same size and spec connection.
I picked this natural gas hose up at Home Depot with a brass quick release connection the day before the storm to connect my Firman tri fuel. I connected it and it fired right up.

So what size hose should I get?
Posted on 9/6/21 at 4:32 pm to LSUlefty
The connection is either 3/8 or 1/2. I had some gas connection parts in the garage and I matched what was on the generator to a connector that I had and I carried that part into Home Depot to select the hose. I just got the hose that had the same connection size as the piece in my pocket, which I knew was the same as the generator.
If you have a Firman, it comes with a LP gas connection hose which small female end connects to the generator. You could carry that hose with you to buy the part to make sure the connection you buy is the same.
I guess the more important issue is if you have to step down your gas pipe outside to the size of the quick release you want to connect. fortunately I had the parts in the garage for the service end. You maybe should take some measurements or photos on your phone to help you get the parts. Also, if you connect gas pipes, use the yellow pipe tape for gas as opposed to the white pipe tape for water.
Looking at the Firman gas hose manual, the connection on the generator is 3/8.

I’ve been watching the PNG videos on their conversations and I know specifically for my generator they spec the 3/4” line. But the champion tri-fuel comes with a 25’ natural gas line in west I assume is 1/2”. Weird as my Westinghouse is significantly more fuel efficient. Only difference I saw was the 50 amp vs 30 amp connections, not sure if that has something to do with it.

I like the propane idea.
