re: Moving to Lafayette this summer

I remember when I moved to the area five years ago. Found me a nice studio apartment that was about 530 dollars plus utilities cost me around 600. I lived maybe a mile from the ull track and field complex and my work was pretty much across the street. I didn't even have to drive most of the time.

Find a one bed room condo or apartment to rent in RR or off of verot. You can keep it 700-800.
You're 24. You don't want roommates anymore.

Ain't that the truth.
Spent 5 years in BR and I'm going on my third here in lafayette. I have to admit, lafayette is leaps and bounds better than BR.

Scruffy hates lafayette. I know. We know. The entire website knows.

These fools just have no idea. All they think about is the dumb and false affliction guido stereotype. I'd move back to Lafayette in a heartbeat if the opportunity presents itself.

Don't listen to these fools. Lafayette is far better than BR these days and you will enjoy it.
Your amount to use towards rent doesn't lend much info. Really need to know the total.
For $1,400+ you might be able to find a decent house to rent.
Even tho you're working in Broussard, consider renting in Lafayette for entertainment (if you're young and single). Look in the area near dons seafood/Camelia drive off Johnston. Bunch of little neighborhoods.
I owned a house in Broussard and loved it, but I like the quiet life.
Otherwise there are some nicer apt complexes. Just look at them for yourself, it will be obvious.
I now live in BR and are counting the days until I can leave.

And the entire website still gives no shits. You must have gotten kicked out of the keg time and time again when you were a child.

Be nice, Scruffy may be having his time of the month.

My guess he came on to the wrong guy and Scruffy suffered a beatdown...guess ONLY, mind you.

I have lived in the Lafayette area for close to 3 years now, Shittiest place I've lived out of 5 states. Here is my beef...
1) food is overrated. After 1 year you realize this, if you are from here, you will get defensive about this statement.
2) people are constantly self promoting. Think keeping up with the joneses in tap out t shirts and goatees. If you talk, expect to be one upped with a story about their cousin's experience. I really believe this is the jersey shore of the south.
3) Culture? Sure everyone has accents, is catholic, name is spelled funny; but the entire f'n town looks like a strip mall circa 2001.
Forgive me, I had to vent. Good luck in your move here!

You're eating at the wrong places or you have a horrible palate.

If you're expecting a Houston skyline, then you will be disappointed. Lafayette is still more Iike a town and not a city.
there are plenty non tap out people. Depends where you go and who you associate with. If in O&G then it might be tough to avoid the blue collar jacked up truck tapout folk.
Regardless, the tapout kinds are prevelant everywhere in this state. very unfortunate, but I happen to not be bothered by them. It could be worse.
I grew up in a town where the only thing it was above average in the state was minority population.
I don't fully disagree with you on everything.. No place is perfect. What's your beef with the food? Real question

I am sorry if I have offended you. I will refrain from speaking my mind.
I have literally tried every top rated place in Lafayette Parish. Don't get me wrong, the Cajun food is the best you'll get. The problem is that there is no variety. No decent Italian, Asian, BBQ, etc.
