Still kicking as far as I know. Pizza is mediocre but their back courtyard area and the cellar make for a good time.

I don't remember ever eating there...just remember them having good live music and always having a good time.

It's a pretty cool town. Lot of food. Like a whole lot. Reds is an awesome gym but there is an abundance of douche that goes there.

If anyone tells you how awesome the Keg or bulldog is, run. Run away real fast.

I play drums and percussion. I won't be bringing my kit, since its for 4-8 months. So I'll be bringing my Cajon and will definitely get a wrap around washboard while him down there.

I'm not one to brag, but I'm pretty damn good. I've played the last two Nola jazz fests with Mardi Gras Indian tribes, and I'm white. So if that's any indication.

But I play everything. So after jamming in the campground at Black Pot Fest, so I know a lot about Acadian music, and love it.

lol. I was waiting for this one. Normally, I'd be screwed. First, I'm not a dumbass that runs my mouth. I was also born in Lake Charles, and spent the last five years in Nola. So I'm used to it. Besides, I've worked around a ton of Boh Bros and Barrierre crews, and worn Bama stuff to work, so it can't get any worse that it did in '11.

sorry, that afternoon nap turned into a 5 hour nap. Luckily it's snowing in Colorado, and I'm off work tomorrow.

Y'all been hitting it so far. I love blues, jazz, Cajun swing, zydecco, gypsy jazz, and pretty much everything else except modern country and modern rap. I play all of those styles too.

I've thought that Lafayette was one of the last unique places in America. Hell, Nola is even losing that claim, since its turning into Brooklyn, but with third world level violent crime.

CCtider, welcome. Make light and happy conversation with the locals and you'll fit right in. They will be more than happy to answer your questions about what to do or where to go.

ETA: did not know that The Station closed, my son's little rock band used to play there.

haha! frick Texas... Except Austin. Only thing besides Austin worthy a fan in Texas is y'all's brisket.

Which reminds me... Where I'd the best Cochon de lait (sp?). Or is that a southeastern Louisiana dish?

Austin is over populated and over rated. You want the real Texas experience go to Waco.

Thanks g vice. I've always found it to be a relatively friendly place.

My mom described the area well, imo. She was from Mobile, and when my sister and me were babies, lived in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles. When I was moving to New Orleans years ago, she said "Cajuns have a very crude and dirty sense of humor, but I really like them." I laughed, because she had seven brothers, so no wonder she felt at home.
