Sounds like a pack of baboons. Anyway, for me, being stuck in a town that small during the winter would suck. Drive me nuts.

Bozeman is right at the base of the mountains, very close to good skiing, Yellowstone National Park, and a short drive to Missoula.

MSU is in Bozeman and it is pretty much the Texas A&M to the University of Montana's Austin. Conservative v. Hippies.

Other than that, it's just another sleepy town in the Big Sky state

I work with a guy who vacations out there. They love it. As a matter of fact, when he retires in a few more years, they plan to move out there.

I think Simms is headquartered in Bozeman, and I've read that it's some of the best fly fishing in North America. If I was in your position I would probably go for it for that reason alone.

I would turn down a trip anywhere in north America to go back to Montana.

you can drink and still do all of those activities. For a two year gig I'd be gone.

And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a recreational vehicle

If you don't have a family and have a job lined up already, I wouldn't hesitate to be honest with you. It also depends if you're a homebody, but it doesn't sound like you are. I haven't been to Bozeman, but I've been to other parts of Montana and that place will hold a special place in my heart. I hope to visit many more times in my lifetime.

Possibly have an opportunity to move to Bozeman, Montana in about a month and was wondering if any OTers had been there. I've never been, but it's consistently ranked as one of the best outdoor cities in all of America so it sounds like it would be awesome.

Don't listen to these clowns. We moved to Bozeman from Baton Rouge 9 years ago. It was the best decision we ever made. I love it.

Ski Big Sky, hike and fish in the summer, hunt in the fall if you're in to that. There's always something to do outside. The town is a good size, with pretty much anything you need. Good bars. Decent food - that aspect is much improved in the last 9 years. It's a great place to live.

Yep. I've been there a couple of times when traveling from Glacier to Yellowstone. It's a nice little city in a great location. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Winters aren't that bad, plus there are outdoor things to do that time of year. It's a hell of a lot better than a Chicago winter.

I agree. We don't get a ton of snow in town. It's very manageable. Winter is not bad, it's just looong. May is a sad time.

Just got back from Snowboarding in Big Sky at the Yellowstone Club. Flew into Bozeman. IMO, it was kinda dumpy but I only drove through it. I hope you like snow.

It is likely way colder there than the Denver area but being able to hit the slopes every weekend makes it totally worth it to me. Not to mention the summers will be much more enjoyable than the south

i love skiing but that alone isn't enough to keep me out there, especially as my body continues to turn against me. the summers out there are simply heaven and are the reason to stay.

Avg. Jan high in Bozeman is around 32 degrees. I was there in December once and it was around 50. It has a more mild climate than Minneapolis, but a little more snowfall.

Plus, mountains.

Not true. That would be Missoula. Bozeman is great. Home of Montana State U. If you like the outdoors, college towns, and cold weather, you will love it.
