Sounds like a very healthy town.

recent 2022 study confirmed 1 in 3 people in America are "obese" ... don't matter if you live in Miami, Manhattan, or Missoula, you'll find "fat" people everywhere including L.A. if that's where you reside. People eat out more, at all times of the day, and spend less time burning calories.

Of course there are fat people everywhere. Just a lot more of them in Lafayette. Every time I go home to visit the family I'm reminded of it. It's sad.

BTW: Lafayette ranked 12. L.A. 82. It's not really a comparison.

So I guess we can safely assume which category you fall in.
I’m from NOLA.

As for Lafayette ppl caring about NOLA -Lafayette ppl say they don’t care until you tell them you’re from there after they’ve asked - and then they got to tell you how much better Lafayette is - which whatever - I was just telling you where I’m from bc you axed - I’m not here to compete, it’s two totally different places

So this gym is a main draw for Lafayette? Guess you don’t find something like that anywhere else.

I just want to know what all the people living on the endless sea of spec neighborhoods do for a living.

O&G has never really come back and over the longterm is contracting in the area. Are there that many nursing and bar tending jobs.

That being said it is one of the 3 area in the state I would live, anywhere on the south shore is definitely not on that list.

The state of LA killed that more than 20 years ago with taxes. Rig maintenance, Shell, etc. the state sure made sure there was a Huey Long inspired shite show that incentivized them to move to Orange and Beaumont. Congrats, helped the little guys. The only reason there is an O&G support industry in LA is because choppers need to be in range of some rigs.

Why do jobs in Lafayette seem to pay less than the same jobs in Shreveport?

Wouldn’t say Reds is a MAIN draw for Lafayette but it coupled with solid festivals, local restaurants and an overall centralized location within LA make it a good place to live.

I don’t understand why some of you people can’t grasp this concept. If we’re simply talking quality of life in the state of LA only, Lafayette is arguably #1.
