I'd be pissed if my kid ended up at LSU after spending all that.

If you go to a great private school you're probably going to have a free ride to LSU so you get a return on your investment by not having to pay for college.

Don't know the most expensive, but I can tell you that the best high school is Jesuit.

Now it's a proper thread.

I'm not sure about high school yet but I know I will be spending around 15k for kindergarten and I can't wait for that. It's a lot cheaper than what I am spending on child care currently.

I don't understand private schools. Just live in a district with good schools and save your 20 grand a year. Not worth it

Good public schools are usually 20-30 miles away from a big city (with the exception of a few). Most parents work in the city, so they live closer. Some people can afford it, some people can't.

I grew up in a city where that was easy to do

Skews my view on it. Although I now live in a city where people pay and travel for private schools over good (and close) public schools. Trying to understand it but don't think I ever will.

That's unlikely, depending on how you define "great"

I use the term great very liberally because any private school in Louisina is great compared to almost all public schools. It's really easy to do well enough in high school to have most of your LSU expenses covered.

I go to lsu now

The vast majority of kids who went to jesuit or st paul's aren't going to lsu for free.

That's because they were too busy selling drugs in high school.

I don't put St Pauls or Jesuit into the elite category. Newman, Country Day, St Georges Episcopal in NOLA, St Martins fit that category which is why they are more expensive.
