A guy I graduated high school with died this past Friday. Not only was it Friday the 13th, but it was also his 24th birthday. He killed himself by tying cinder blocks to his feet and jumping in a lake.

All the details combined sound like the plot to an old folk song, not real life. I didn't know the guy well and hadn't seen him since HS but I can't stop thinking about how crazy that is.

I don't know about disturbing, but the wierdest is a beach umbrella to the neck on a windy vacation day

One guy chummed some ocean water, where he later jumped in on purpose to be eaten by the sharks that gathered. True story.

4-wheeler accident. He got flipped over, landed on his head at a weird angle, broken neck. Dead instantly.

He was only 22. RIP J.K.

I'd say anyone that knows a child that has died should be disturbed by it.

Friend's dad ran aground on an Oyster reef. The outboard motor flipped into the boat striking him in the back. He died from the blunt force trama.

The way most people go is the most disturbing to me. I've seen (and see) many members of my family go through. Your mind and body start to go, you can't take care of yourself, everything hurts, you feel like a burden and lash out while everyone treats you with pity because they know you're gonna die soon.

frick. That.

A young man in my area evidently attempted several different methods of suicide the day of his death before succeeding. Memory may be incorrect but I want to say his parents found him in their room.

Somebody that I worked with for about 4 years (that I'd considered somewhere between acquaintance and friend) got hit by a bus along a highway. Likely suicide...and in front of a younger sister.

Cop that was friend of another of our co-workers was at the scene. Called it "a half-mile long horror show". Couldn't even imagine.

ETA:

Had a really good friend of the family get killed by a "widowmaker" tree... in front of his wife.

Knew a guy who was shot in the chest inside his truck at his apartment complex's parking lot. Went unnoticed for a day or two. Murder is still unsolved. He was a nice guy but I always suspected he was involved in something shady.

Some of the deaths in the Peds ICU at my work were pretty bad. Few years ago had two toddlers die weeks of each other....both pulled old TVs off dressers onto them and it crushed their heads.

One kid internally decapitated from being too small to sit in front seat of car(force from airbag did it)

Nurses are some tough SOBs. I don't know how y'all do it.

(My grandmother is a retired nurse and 2x breast cancer survivor. Toughest person I know.)
