Mexico, City

Not sure why anybody would want to go there voluntarily. I'm guessing you had to for business?

I went voluntarily two years ago. A friend had a work trip there and I had some extra FF miles so had an almost free trip.

I loved the place, and the food (street tacos, particularly) and the awesome tequila bars. Most dangerous I felt was a bus station after dark, but wasn't that bad. Really wasn't scared.

Teotihuacan (northeast of the city) is AMAZING!!

On a crime per-capita basis, Mexico City's massive population probably makes it one of the safer places in Mexico (while not as safe as Cancun or Cabo). I really liked Mexico City and would recommend it.

I've been to lots of dangerous places. Central city New Orleans. Lower ninth Ward. Hollygrove. New Orleans East. Even live there.

Few places on the southside of Chicago. Walked from the Redlawn to University of Chicago hospital launch. That was not a smart decision. Very run down there. Worse in New Orleans. Used to take the CTA out to Humboldt Chicago. That also is not very safe. Had a few guns flashed on me. So what. I laugh at this big moe fellow. He acts like Cabrini Green still exists. What a fool. I have no fear to walk through there even at night. Theyre now just a few rows of homes and they're well protected by the police. It's more dangerous at the Chicago redline stop. They are really doesn't know what he's talking about the knows nothing about Chicago's neighborhoods. He should just stay in his suburban Lakeview. Enjoy frat boy life at Wrigley Ville. He also knows nothing about the Chicago dining scene.

Other dangerous places, hmmmm
I said in some pretty bad areas in Staten Island New York. Gary Indiana. Now that's one of the most interesting places in America. Makes Detroit look like it's up and coming. Never seen so many abandoned buildings and homes in all my life. At least 90% of the buildings there are empty and abandoned.

Few parts in Baton Rouge scare me. More than Rich is pretty bad ones. Got robbed up there once.
Ferriday Louisiana.

Found myself in a bad part of Washington DC once. And Philadelphia. And Camden New Jersey. Camden is really bad. Thought I might die there. Few border towns in Mexico. But that was before they really got bad.

Manila and Angeles City and Muslims? While I'm sure there are some muslims, Manila and Angeles City are two very Catholic cities. In fact, I've never really seen any Muslims in either city.

Southern Philippines is a different story. I'm half Filipino, and my cousins even say that probably wouldn't go there, well at least certain places, without a hired body guard.

In regards to Mexico City. I've been a few times and have enjoyed it each time I was there. Never felt as if I were in danger at all.

On the other hand, Washington, D.C. and Boca (Buenos Aires), Argentina are probably the two scariest places I've been.
Boca, although I thought it was nice, I just never felt comfortable there. Two friends even got held up at gun point during the day.

And D.C., well a friend and I were trying to make our way to the University of Maryland, and I swear D.C. tends to shut down certain roads at certain points in the day which makes driving with a GPS difficult. Anyway, we got redirected and had to drive through the ghetto. We were at a stop light. A guy was talking about how the white man were terrorists' gift to Africa and so on. Then a guy drove by and dropped the n-word. Next thing I see is the guy crouch down, pull out a gun, and scream come back here you motherfricker. My friend hit the gas and drove through the red light.

Probably not dangerous, but the area from Cape Girardeau, MO down I-55 to Memphis gave me the heebs while driving through.

I know nothing about this runningTiger dude, but he is right about Cabrini.

I live not too far from where the old Cabrini used to be, and a lot of it is super high-scale now. There is a prestigious international school, a Trader Joe's, a Target, and more million-plus condos than I care to count. It is completely different than it was even five years ago.

He is wrong about Lakeview, though. There are some really cool places up there that are worth anyone's time.

I didn't say Cabrini Green was one of the worst areas. I said that area and the Marshall field projects are the only area I see the bad apples mainly on the north side until you get to uptown. Even then it's just small pockets. For some reason he has had a hard on for me ever since we disagreed on the FDB a while back

...is still really rough. I am surprised Rahm hasn't taken the sledgehammer to those. Having open air drug markets merely blocks from some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in America just baffles me.

Yeah. I had a eye doctor appointment on Division and was walking to the Sedgwick brown line and ended up there on accident. I hadn't spent much time in that area and I was following maps. Drug deals in the middle of the street with cops just chilling not paying any attention

The one thing I will give them though is there were four cops waiting at the border of the bad area. It was almost like they were saying, "do what you want there, but if you bring that into the nice part were going to bust you"
