I know the driving in Oklahoma can be pretty boring. To keep ourselves entertained when driving from Ft. Sill to anywhere, Army buddies and I would bring air pistols to shoot at cattle. It's not that easy to hit a cow when the driver is messing with the shooter's aim by jerking the steering wheel or tapping the brakes. The BBs didn't do any real damage. They just startled the cows when you hit them.

The trick was to shoot at a small cluster of cows to increase your chances of hitting one of them.

worst places I have driven would be

Salina, KS to Denver, CO
Dallas to El Paso
Cheyene, WY to Wheatland, WY - 72 miles of nothing.
Salina, kS south to Enid, OK then diagonal cut to Arkansas.

There's absolutely nothing between those two places outside of Lafayette Monroe and trees.

It's really not much of a contest for me: Fort Worth TX to El Paso. Anyone who has done it will agree with me. Nothing but tumbleweed and oil wells for 9 fricking hours.

Someone hasn't travelled much. I don't think any of those would make my top 10.

Ive made the drive up I-35 all the way up to Salina, KS 4 or 5 times. Between Dallas and OKC sucks then OKC to Wichita also blows. I find it very hard not to do 100 up there with no landmarks or barriers to gauge speed.

oh for gods sake i've done this 4 billion times. its a beautiful drive..and never traffic. i can make this trip in about 2 hours.

Seriously, try highway 45 in Mississippi and then come back and bitch about that drive. On 55, you have gas stations every 10 miles and nice rolling hills that don't make you nauseous. I-40 between Memphis and Little Rock is much worse. Some places in TX and Arkansas, you can go 45 miles without seeing a gas station. I-55 is not a bad interstate to drive on in really any stretch.

Definitely up there. It's amazing how far it is and you're still in the same state.

They're not that boring for the first 2 hours or so. Funny that all of these 2 hour drives are listed - you can't get that bored on such a short drive.

Across Kansas and into eastern Colorado is so terrible.
