Wow, not even help them with debt?

I have like 45 first cousins alone and 9 aunts and uncles. Catholic New Orleans family.

No chance I would help them ALL out. I'd help pay for funerals and stuff though if needed.

With this much money, I'd give $1 million to each of my 3 siblings, both of my parents, and set up a college trust for all my nieces and nephews.

I'd also buy vacation homes in a couple places and let my family use them as they wish.

They go broke by paying off debt of extended family? Thinking of mine that can't be even close to the insane crap that lotto winners are known to buy.

No way in hell I'd leave 113M on the table. I'd take the annuity just so they'd have to pay it all.

I'm close with some extended family but I don't think anyone would expect me to start writing checks no matter how I came into the money.

pretty sure what you get in the lump sum is what the lottery would pay for the annuity

Nope. You accept less for taking lump sum. The annuity on hers would be so high tho u could still live like a boss n not have to worry bout frickin up and goin broke

I wouldn't have to worry about going broke. On top of that, with sound investments, you should make more money than the annuity would pay over that term. So by taking the annuity rather than the lump sum, you are actually taking less money.

I don't think my parents/siblings would expect anything just like I wouldn't if they won.
I certainly wouldn't expect anything as in I would feel owed, but I know if my mom or sister won this type of payout, they'd give me millions, and I'd do the same for them 2 if I won.

I'd have to use some of those years getting the annuity to become adjusted to being filthy rich. I'd essentially have 20x chances to get it down, 20x re-winnings. I'd take the sure thing of getting an extra 113M before I let some sucker in a tiger striped Lambo touch my money.

My great aunt won like $27.5million in the Indiana state lottery. I haven't seen shite. But her husband and siblings all have. First place they went was to the lawyer and second was to local children's hospital to make a donation. They'd never been able to have children and this hospital was their passion. They got PAID. Then all the brothers and sisters.

ETA-Italian family. Close knit. We have regular get togethers. I'm the golden child of all the ones my age. But my Italian has been diluted. Not sure if my 1/2 cousins will trump my 1/4.
