I've lived in Frisco since 1993. Seen it go from a small country town of 5000 to 155K in that time. Everything here is new, (stores, roads, etc.). DFW has been very good to me and my family.

Every time I think I want to move back, we go back home to visit and we are happy to be here. Problem is that moving back is not financially practical. Besides taking a 50% pay cut in salary, most everything else is the same cost of living wise. Not a lot of demand for IT professionals with six figure salaries in Louisiana.

Frisco, Allen, Plano, and McKinney are excellent places to move to. If I could I would be there immediately. Great schools, everything is new and looks beautiful.

True. Unless you don't mind traveling and taking a consulting role.

if you don't mind living with yankees than any DFW suburb is alright, but say goodbye to your Southern culture.

Translated: Say goodbye to the trashy fat asses that have truck nuts and yeti sticker on the back.

You can not want to live in a big city, I get that, but anybody that trashes Dallas (or Houston or many other cities for that matter) and lives in BR or NOLA is just a sour grapes dumbass.

OP, list what you want and I'll do my best in answering. Generalizations won't help you here at all.

Great schools with smaller classes for the little one. Although he won't start big boy school for another 2 years. It's coming. Had an epiphany as it relates to cost of schools in BR when we started looking. At least $10K a year a kid. Some closer to $15K. That's steep. Especially if you have more than one.

Would like basic amenities, clean air, a good job (I'm in finance and have several leads in the area) and quality of life. We will miss Carnival Season in South LA I'm sure.

Also a good medical community. My little one has some developmental challenges.

the culture in Dallas revolves around making money and that is it. I'll take the trashiest metro in the South over that.

in what location will you be working?

never mind, I see youre just looking.

Plano should be fine if you like suburbs, which it appears you do, if not somewhere in Ft. Worth or Preston Hollow in Dallas

Any suggestions for other areas?

Well, if you are a suburban guy Plano is as good as any burb. Frisco and McKinney are the other popular burbs north of the city of Dallas. Richardson is a good option too or even the Lake Highlands part of Dallas....which is in the Richardson School District......I have a lot of friends with kids that live there. Dallas itself has a lot of good elementary schools but you have to know the right neighborhoods that have the good schools....Lakewood (expensive), Little Forest Hills-Forest Hills- Casa Linda,Kessler Park-Winnetka Heights.....Then the Magnet Middle and High Schools are where a lot of Dallas kids go to high school.

Are you implying private school is an option?

I'd venture to guess the amount of people who left BR and went ANYWHERE and have a desire to ever return is very, very low.

After 20+ years gone, I'm considering the move back. But not to BR. Maybe an hour South in the bayou somewhere.

Considering picking up and moving to the Dallas area.

Did just that 21.5 years ago and it was a huge step toward a wonderful career and life. Long gone from Texas now, but leaving Louisiana, and relocating to the Dallas area, opened up options all over the United States and internationally.

Do it! Immigrate to America. It's a great country.

FWIW, a lot of the high dollar growth is happening north of Fort Worth/Keller area.

Maybe, but not nearly as much as Collin County, specifically Frisco, Mckinney, and Celina.
