I knew a guy that married into a rich family and he asked the girls dad if he could take their last name. The dad told him not just no but hell no because he didn't like the guy. The guy wanted to use the name to further his career but the dad was right as the marriage only lasted a few years since he was more interested in the family money than the girl he actually married.

He's British and a pompous arse about his lineage:
"Sir Ian Baker-Finch Shropshire Lloyd III, OBE", for example.

MJD that played for the Jaguars for a while was just Maurice Drew until his senior year at UCLA. When his stepfather died Drew legally changed his last name to Jones-Drew to honor him

Gee, maybe that's what their parents named them?

Talks must be interesting when two hyphen-names marry.

Had a Facebook "friend" I hadn't talked to in years.... The other day a post goes rolling by on the screen with a hyphenated name I didn't recognize either half of. Turns out the girl married a guy with two last names and she took both. In hindsight she definitely should've kept hers to make it a triple.
