Unless she expected to win and was already prepared, I think it's pretty stupid that she's already claimed it.

She must have REALLY hated her job.

Something tells me she isn't very bright by making it public the very next day. She should have met with attorneys and set up some things before claiming the money.

No kidding. I'd likely be a month or so before I came forward. I want a lot of things planned out in advance.

Some states let you be anonymous while others don't IIRC

I understand what you're saying about getting your ducks in a row before you collect but I think it would literally drive me insane worrying about losing or damaging the ticket. I would be so paranoid. I wonder if they would let you turn in the ticket and then come back at a later date to collect once you had your financial plan set? I hope I have that problem one day

How long do you have to claim it? Where would you stash your winning ticket?

I read an article yesterday about Lottery winners that blew it...A guy won over 300 million and he was in the poor house in 5 years...HTF do you blow that much money in that short period of time..

I would quit my job immediately. I would change my phone number and address. I'd delete all social media.

Then, I'd set up a nice life for myself and my close family and friends.

Wanczyk said she bought two quick-pick tickets and a third ticket for which she picked out the numbers herself, and the latter was the lucky one.

Do news copy editors exist anymore? That should be "last", not "latter".

anytime all numbers are under 31 there is a chance of a winning ticket because of birthdays during a month.
