I guess for the most part, people are impulsive particularly with large amounts of money. But that "poor" women is going to be hounded ruthlessly having gone public so quick. I can't imagine that she went and got any financial advice first. She'll soon be sought out by the slimy "advisors" wanting to invest for her.
Idk. I just look at it and think how differently I'd do it.
Apparently Massachusetts is one of the rare places that you can claim anonymously through a trust or an LLC with a lawyer accepting it publicly on your behalf. It's such a life changer, I can't imagine not consulting with a team of financial professionals and getting your ducks in a row before you rush out and claim it. But I guess most people just want the thrill of the check right away.

I think some people are capable of retreating to places where they are more anonymous. A lot of people are not.
