I'm sure it does, but it seems as though that would be a small part of the solution. It was one of her main tactics, not a tertiary tactic in conjunction with a targeted action plan.

I'm still trying to understand the point of the presser. They didn't give any solid actions plans.

I'm agreeing with you. The blight removal works. But only if done in conjunction with active policing.

Because it works.

Baton Rouge would have to reach 500+ murders a year before our esteemed mayor would allow anything like that.

You guys need an influx of European/asian Immigrants, to gentrify the shite areas, and push the shitheads to other cities, parts of state.

It's what happened in NY, saved the bronx and other areas in NY.

Saved South St.Louis, Bosnians came in large numbers and pushed shitheads back North, toward the city and North County.

There is neither the support or the budget for either. We have a $300,000 code enf. Budget. Compare that with NO at $5-6 million. Compounding the problem is all of the flood related blight. A lot of these issues get tied up in court or have to be researched to locate owners, etc.

And as far as policing goes we need another 50-60 officers out there which isn't going to happen without better pay and a mayor that actually appreciates the need for pro-active policing.

East Baton Rouge Parish mayor, officials pledge joint effort to address public safety amidst rise in killings

quote:

District Attorney Hillar Moore III also called to fully staff both the police department and the parish's Sheriff's Office; Baton Rouge Police are still about 60 officers short, Dunnam said.

Broome did not promise her budget will include funding for full police academies in early 2018, but said she is looking at options to do that.

This leads to crime reduction. You know what else it leads to? It leads to making contact with criminals, which leads to confrontations, which leads to shootings. Won't be allowed.

Strangely, it's also leads to cries of racism and harassment due to "profiling and targeting." Let's ignore elevated crime statistics because they only exist due to over-policing. And the circle begins again. Seems like a no win situation for the police.

Exactly.

SWB's constituency doesn't want the cops their neighborhoods but they want less crime.

It's just like the gentrification issue. They want nice stuff, but don't want property values to increase.

Nope. They just want their damn 40 acres and a mule.

But don't give them a fricking brown mule. That's racist as frick.

She literally just said that her direct action to combat crime was getting rid of abandoned cars and put up street lights.

Hopefully Nakamoto's direct action to hearing this is to revisit that cronie payola spreadsheet and find out which one of them has a junkyard/recycling business.

So basically they're going to change some light bulbs and all the murders and crime will go away?

It's a shame that they aren't killing each other at a rate high enough to decrease the problem long term.

A bit OT, but this whole flooded car blight reminded me of a company offering Nagin to pay the city for the opportunity to pick up flooded cars for scraps after Katrina. He said no, then a month or two later ended up paying another company a shitload of money to do it.

Dude, these are the same people that hired Silky Slim to teach kids how to talk to the cops.

Sacramento plans to pay gang members $1.5M to keep the peace

quote:

How bad has gun violence gotten in Sacramento, Calif.? City leaders now plan to pay gang members $1.5 million for a cease-fire.

Following a fatal shooting last weekend in a city park, the Sacramento city council unanimously approved a controversial program called Advance Peace in an effort to address a recent spike in violence.

You give away the misdemeanor, you give away the city. Guiliani knew to enforce the little stuff, too.
