This is really scary. I have a roadway project in that area and have some good people working during the normal work days out there. You know, when everyone else is supposed to be at work.

Then they will be safe.

I "worked" in these areas for a couple of years. If you go to them between 9AM - 2PM, you are fine.

Most of the time during daytime, the hoods aren't that bad.
I'm looking at my schedule today and I'll be off Bundy in the East and on third st, off of LaSalle. Neither place I would even drive by after the sun sets.
The senseless robberies and shootings can happen anywhere at any time, but the real bad stuff happens once the sun goes down.

I can agree with that. I worked as a delivery driver for an instututional food company out if Houma. Made several stops all over the city, project's included. Never had a problem, no way I would go there at night though. When bums would ask for money I'd just tell them we went allowed to carry money and they would go in about their business. Never ran across a real thug.

Only way to stop these acts of crime would be to barricade off those 3 areas and stop and frisk every black male between 16-35 years of age. Unrealistic, but true. The cops can't predict when these guys are going to do this, however you can most certainly narrow it down to who is going to do it 99/100 times.

Actually, these things are kind of predictable, which is why NOPD requires permits and officers to be present at these second lines. The whole neighborhood comes out and the perps know their target is going to be there.

Out hundreds of witnesses and multiple shooters, only one has come forward and would only ID one shooter.

Now the mother of this suspect is claiming he has an alibi in Texas at the time of the shooting. She Is pursuing video to prove this.

I'm not gonna say the mother is right, because they all say their child "dindu nuffin", but they also generally don't make specific claims about an alibi in another state. If she is right, what a fail on NOPD and the community of people at the park.

NEW ORLEANS -- The only suspect arrested in connection with the mass shooting at Bunny Friend Playground remains in jail on a $1.7 million bond, but his mother says the cops have the wrong guy.

Deborah Allen, the mother 32-year-old Joseph Allen, protested in front of police headquarters and City Hall, proclaiming her son's innocence and saying there is no way he committed the crime.

"I'm not a mother trying to protect my son for something wrong he did," said Allen. "My son did not do no wrong. My son is innocent."

Deborah Allen is confident that her Joseph Allen was not involved in the Bunny Friend Playground shooting where 17 people were shot on Nov. 22.

According to Allen's mother, he was in Houston at the time of the shooting shopping for baby clothes. She says his wife is expecting. New Orleans police say Allen was the first of several suspected gunmen identified from two rival gangs who opened fire on each other despite hundreds of people gathered in the park.

"They got the wrong guy," Allen said. "The police need to do their job. They need to stop trying to just put anybody in jail for a crime and trying to solve all these problems."

Allen says members of her family are working to retrieve surveillance video which will prove that he was in Houston at the time of the shooting.

There are a few places in NOLA I've been at after dark and only once was I truly worried. The airplane streets (Boeing, etc) in eastern New Orleans are seriously some third world shite. I'm talking 6 feet high weeds around abandoned row houses to a car on fire in a front yard

While were advocating violating constitutional and civil liberties I would also suggest doing a complete shakedown of all public housing and seizing all weapons for testing and if the want it back provide proof of ownership.
