It’s embarrassing that Louisiana and Mississippi are surrounded by states that have no problem adding population

Arkansas, kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, NC, SC, and Alabama all are on paper similar to Louisiana and Mississippi in so many ways, yet are eating their lunch on economic future

It’s a choice. Decline is a choice

States like WV, Ohio, PA, NY have an excuse….the decline of industry is causing job loss and resultant migration outwards

Louisiana was never an industrial state, so they don’t have that excuse to use

Louisiana could have been what South Carolina and Georgia are now, but they chose a different policy route

New Orleans is the elephant in the room. It’s the only city in America over 200,000 people that *costs* the state more money than it pays in tax revenue

Louisiana needs to either get a major city to start being the economic hub of the state, or it needs to do what South Carolina did and make a specific niche market the way out of poverty….South Carolina decided to be an automotive state and it’s working well, our car industry and shifted from Detroit to South Carolina

Another big issue is that Cajun culture historically *does not* put a lot of emphasis on economic productivity and enterprise.

I can tell you Louisiana isn’t losing people between my house and my kids school. Traffic is worse every year.

Not happening. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Texas flip politically over the next few years. Definition of insanity.

The amount of ugly arse yellow license plates from New Jersey and New York that are on South Carolina roads is making me more and more miserable by the day.

We had a good run, but the yankees are drowning us out slowly.

Overall population as opposed to people leaving? Need to break it down by death, birth rate differences, moving in, moving out, etc.

Louisiana has a ton of problems and may even be a lost cause as an actually viable state.

However, your understanding of them all is more than a bit distorted, at best.
