Louisiana is descending to the level of shitty-ness of West Virginia where half of a very small state population is on some kind of government assistance and hardly anybody works a real job.

It won’t be long before all of the younger generations move out and the remaining population is elderly people who were too poor to move out alongside the ghetto people who commit all of the violent crimes.

We are leaving Louisiana after 12 years. I thought we would be here for another several years but this is my longest stop since I left Texas in 2002. Spent 4 years in Arizona(Phoenix), 6 in North Carolina(Charlotte), and 12 in Baton Rouge.

We chose Baton Rouge and as much shite as this place gets on here we had a blast and made a lot of good friends here.

Louisiana was never an industrial state, so they don’t have that excuse to use

You’re forgetting that a huge part of Louisiana’s identity and economy was being the slave capital of America at one time. New Orleans had the largest slave market in the entire country by the 1850s, if I’m correct.

The economy in Louisiana was always favored to the elitist-planter class while everyone else was poor whites who lived in huts or were indentured servants. That’s how it was and when the Union won the Civil War, Louisiana was never able to adapt and diversify to new industries. The way the culture was set up, a very small group of wealthy aristocrats basically owned the state while everyone else was dirt poor peasants. That’s the way it was then, and that’s the way it is now. And it will never change

Bottom line, the excuse or the reason.. Its state politics. It doesn't matter who is governor, its still the same bullshite it has been since Louisiana became a state.

No one can do business in Louisiana without having to pay people off. Or having to agree to use contractors that are in some way connected to a state congressman,

Louisiana has been last in everything its good to be first in and first in everything its good to be last in as for as I can remember.

Politicians do more harm than good.

I can explain the demographics of Louisiana: half of the population is poor blacks who live in fatherless households and on welfare. They commit 99% of the violent, drug-related crimes and contribute nothing positive. The other half is low middle-class Cajun people who work service industry jobs like waiting tables, plumbing, HVAC, and commercial fishing. These people never went to college, and do the bare minimum that’s necessary to keep a roof above their heads.

There's probably as many auto plants in Mississippi and Alabama as in South Carolina. Mississippi has two (Nissan and Toyota). Alabama has at least two (Mercedes-Benz and Kia or Hyundai).

Similar scenario in Mississippi.

Not sure this is happening....Tennessee for one is seeing a lot of people moving from Illinois, California, and New York and many that I've met are conservatives that are tired of their vote not counting and going to where they do count for something. They are fleeing liberal areas for a reason. Same thing in Arizona, Nevada, and Florida. Most people don't realize that the vast majority of land area in states like California and Illinois are actually heavy republican populations but the state's "blue designation" are carried by a few metro areas.

The next census should be interesting, especially as it related to electoral votes. Possible many blue strong hold states will lose some votes and many red strong hold states and toss up states will gain votes.

The interesting facts about SC auto production is they got a leg up in the Euro car market by bringing in BMW in the early 90s which has led them to be the #1 car exporting state in the US (BMW, Volvo, and Mercedes) and also the #1 tire exporting state in the US (Michelin and Bridgestone). There are over 500 auto-related businesses in SC now.

Yet, the US Census Bureau had an "accounting error" and NY and CA maintained Congressional seats that they should have lost. Whoopsies! Funny how these errors always slant one way.

Montanans like to shite on Californians for fricking up the real estate market (I get it), but most of the ones I've met are just regular baws trying to escape. The super liberal types bought houses but don't really live here.

Atlanta is the only thing Georgia has going for them. If you never had Atlanta your state would be in the same boat as Mississippi and Louisiana. You already have the top 10 highest poverty rate out of any state in the US

Idaho is getting redder actually. The ones moving here from the west coast are overwhelmingly conservative and escaping the shitshow that is California, Oregon, and Washington.
