Disturbed did a pretty decent cover of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2 (who is my all-time favorite band) and I can appreciate their respect they give to the music in their covers.

Funny because a friend of mine sent me this link yesterday and I hadn't listed to or kept up with Disturbed since high school. Still doesn't take away from the power this song was song and how respectful they treated this cover.

You should applaud them for making an old classic popular once again with a new generation, and not get all douchey because the "voice of your generation" was tampered with.

He actually changed it. It brings the song from a different perspective and frankly fits the lyrics better.

Exactly this. But all some people will think about is "Down with the Sickness" and "oh wahahahaha" so they won't give it a chance.

Some people like to look for deeper meaning and cultural and historical significance in their music, like any other art form. Totally gay I know!

You saw "Disturbed" and made up your mind.

Draiman released an album under the name Device. He and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm covered Close My Eyes Forever by Ozzy and Lita Ford. My small contribution to this thread if anyone hasn't heard them.

I never once said it was bad or have any issue with a band doing a cover. I only comment on people saying that it is better than the original. That's a little ridiculous to me. I also think it's a bit overrated, which goes hand in hand with people thinking it's some masterpiece (which I've heard it being treated like that on the radio). Not to say it's bad in any way, just don't get to ahead of yourselves here.

Possibly. Art is subjective though and one of the things I love about it is that it touches people on an individual level. You don't have to agree with the critics every time to appreciate it.

I was a huge Disturbed fan when they first broke onto the scene, traveled to shows, bought merch, etc. But I couldn't finish that video, it brought way too much cringe.

what happened to Down with Sickness

I'll admit I was disappointed. I kept waiting for the band to kick in and Dave start in with the monkey noises.

This thread reeks of empty Mountain Dew bottles, half finished Little Caesars, and soiled metal T-shirts.

I remember when they released the follow up to The Sickness album. Draiman said something to the effect of, "Well, we had to do this follow up or else I would be forever known as the 'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah' guy."

Not a disturbed fan but I like this version alot. When I first heard it I had no idea it was Disturbed till the end when he uses his more well recognizable voice.

I haven't read all the replies, but let me guess.....everyone thinks the song is a mass-marketed POS and Draiman/Disturbed sucks ala a metal version of Nickelback.

I fricking loath the "free-thinking" monkeydicks who shite on anything that flourishes outside of their agenda.

I saw the Conan version and it was a great piece.
