I find that hard to believe. My friend's roommate was jumped last week and the hospital and NOPD pretty much forced him to file a report on it. He was going to anyway...but they were pretty adamant about it.

NO is the wild west. There's cops but they do nothing. The citizens are solely in charge of policing themselves and their community. Why these stories surprise anyone is beyond me. It's a city with virtually no police presence unless the Troopers are in town. Anyone who doesn't know this bullshite is just the next victim.

Let me guess, attackers were black and victim was white? Typical NOLA.com "journalism" bullshite. They never disclose the race of the attacker when black because they don't want to be deemed racist. But, when it is a white attacker, they are quick to disclose everything.

On a side note, at what point will people like this realize that moving into bad neighborhoods isn't a great idea. There is a reason property value is low and crime is high. Downside of gentrification i guess. But, I bet the victim has a sweet handlebar mustache, so it's a wash.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. If whites were less meek it would be a whole different ball game.

Look at Asians. They fly under the radar as minorities and usually don't play the victim card. For this reason they are at risk of losing benefits associated with affirmative action because the black special interest groups are speaking up and trying to do something about Asians taking all their spots.

Want things to change? Be a squeaky wheel in some way other than claiming Armageddon and saying "Thanks Obama" everything some random BS happens.

I read this today and I've also read the victim's account on facebook. Seriously, what does Ronal Serpas have to (not) do to get replaced? Can anyone name anything positive that he's done in his tenure as Superintendant? It seems any crime statistic that is "down" in New Orleans is in spite of him, not because of him.

Pretty sure I know him.

He's a super liberal amnesty intl type. Very nice person from a nice family. He'd be the first to try to help kids like the ones that beat him mercilessly.

Note to self, house keys aren't an effective weapon against metal clubs!

My wife's grandparents are interred in St.Roch cemetery. Not being from NOLA I'll assume it's the same area. I've never CCd to an interment, but I did the two times we had to go there. They locked us in when we got there and let us out to leave. WTF? Really a surreal experience. We pulled up in the funeral procession and it was as if the whole neighborhood stood still. Rather disconcerting.

But I'm sure the neighborhood is up and coming.

St. Roch is a really sad story. You look at old pictures and it used to be a nice little area not too long ago. Then the criminals took over.

The white people who move into such areas are like frontiersmen

My husband knows him. He was really good friends with one of his brothers when they were growing up. It's saddens me to read about all of the things going on in N.O.

Well, the baseball team uses them and pretty much every golf club manufactured after 1995 is metal.

Usually those are referred to as golf clubs but I guess that could be what the thugs had

Not all cops are the same. Some are Mcnulty and some are gonna play the game.

To sports fans yes. To artists and journalists they could be called clubs or even sticks.

Chances are they are bashing skulls with aluminum bats down there.
