This is what is upsetting people to my knowledge. Not that it is a "prayer rally."

Wonder how much outrage it would be if Muslims were bringing their rugs and having a pray/submit a ton?

Protests?
Teachers and students?

I have a feeling there would still be a lot of protesting, just different people doing it.

But once again, everything I've seen is that they aren't protesting prayer at the PMAC, they're protesting anything funded by the AFA. If it was a bake sale and it was funded by the AFA, they would protest it.

This issue is that it's being held at the PMAC, which is part of a public institution. Separation of church and state and all that
If the PMAC is available for rent, then LSU must accommodate anyone who wants to rent the place. The same principles apply to LSU, and state facilities, as apply to private businesses that have been forced to rent their facilities for same sex marriages despite the owners' objections.

It doesn't make a bit of difference to me one way or the other. I was just informing as to why some were having an issue with it. If it were me, I would have found a different venue to avoid the hassle and headache but that's just my opinion.

probably plenty...

just like Christians were outraged when an "atheist church" tried to rent a school auditorium in Lake Charles and threatened to protest

You're absolutely right. And the university even stated as much, adding that the rental of the PMAC does not equal their endorsement of the event.

But a lot of people will not see it that way.

They are anti-gay marriage.

That's hardly the standard of being a hate group.

What is the American family association? If its a private org then they have every right to pray, protest, etc. just like anyone else.

I heard that until last week they had a pamplet made up for the rally or posted on their website or some shite like that with comments about Katrina being cause by gay people and other silly stuff.
I'm fine with whoever doing a prayer rally if they rent the place, but these kind of groups scare the hell out of me.

Classified by whom as a hate group?

Because they oppose gay marriage?

The gay backlash against Christianity USA style is just beginning
