FWIW, the professors were on the right side of this one...

How so? Weiss might have publicly been on the side of the realignment, but that was just lip service--the law school had zero control over whether or not the move was made. Why would the head of the law center be in favor of realigning with the shitty main campus and suddenly having someone supervising him?

He brought up the diversity numbers and got LSU Law up to #74 in the country. Seems like he was doing a fine job.

This situation isn't about the campus merging. It's about diversity.

There are a group of professors who fought his hiring (almost succeeded in getting him blocked) and have fought him the ENTIRE 8 years.
Which professors?

Wrong. Go back and investigate his hiring and you'll understand why he was in favor of the merger.

LSU is in the 90s, now. And, those rankings are only a product of a very specific formula that incorporates placement, funding, etc. They really are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. LSU will always be somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-100.

Was there serious discussion to merge LSU and SULC and move it out to Jimmy Swaggart's compound as a campus?

Enrollment figures were particularly bad last year, hence the drop. LSU was turned down by kids who were getting into Emory and Vanderbilt last year when normally they wouldn't even get the benefit of a rejection letter from those schools.

ETA:
Applications were down for everyone, so the schools ahead of LSU started broadening their entrance criteria. LSU wasn't the only school who suffered because of it.

Here is a TLDR version of the full story.

Guy wrote a couple articles about the lack of diversity at LSU Law. I'll link his website and you can make up your own opinions re the veracity of his claims.

The administration took some steps, but ultimately the situation resulted in a letter written by various faculty members. The author of the articles found out about the letter and issued a FOIA request for the document.

Summary article

Homosexual article

Racial article

Frick Kyle Algood. That little bitch is an attention whore trying to drum up attention for himself so he can get famous for being a SJW. Youre giving him way too much credit. That homosexual article was the biggest load of crap i've ever read. There were openly gay couples at LSU Law and no one cared. They were actually extremely popular among the students there. If no one liked Algood, it's not cause he was gay, but because he was insufferable. The diversity shite is all overblown by third rate 'journalists' like Algood and imo was a convenient pretext for the power struggle between the faculty and Weiss. A couple ill advised comments by Paul Baier doesn't constitute some racial firestorm.

To be fair, I didn't give him any credit. Just posted the real reason Weiss is stepping down.

Also, apparently the "racial" moments were made by Weiss.

Here here

That guy is terrible, and it has nothing to do with him being gay.
