Yup. They went on a serious decline when I started at LSU. Boosie was a part of the last successful greek intramural generation.

[quote]Just because someone didnt rush and join a frat doesnt mean they cant have similar experiences and "success". [quote]

And I'm not trying to say that in the least. I'm saying that they may have their own "success" in career/social life/etc., but they can't understand the whole greek system, so they tear it down. They don't get how a guy chooses to wear short shorts can get a girl. Or how a guy who is stupid enough to "follow the pack" ends up being successful in their career. I don't mean jealous exactly, and I tried to get that through in the post, but failed.

I married a non-Greek, and I remember when I started dating her, some of her non-Greek guy friends definitely had an issue with me being greek. They didn't like shun me or anything, and we eventually all were friendly. But I think some of them thought down about me being greek and couldn't understand how one of their group of girls would be dating me. And this was the guys who I would say weren't as confident in themselves. Several in the group were the type to not give a shite, and it was easy to hit it off right away. The others took some time and had some issues

My parents didn't have enough money to buy me any friends in college. But hey, I managed to get out with no student loan debt and no pledging.

I remember even as a pledge being allowed to invite non-greek friends to parties... As long as they were under my name and any bad behavior would come back on me. The fraternity never asked me to give up other friends at all. However, it was easy to hang with the fraternity brothers cause we had a place to meet up and we had other events together.

i quit hanging out with my high school buddies because hanging out at each others apt on a friday night with the same 10 people was lame as frick. On the event everyone wanted to go out they kept to themselves.

ACACIA had a 40 person pledge class?

When I was at LSU a few years ago they'd get around 20 or less.

i think they have only had a 20 man class once in the past 2 decades.

Also things like this (not directing this at carson). I never really heard any greeks talk about how they beat the team made up of independents, but for some reason, people feel the need to state that they are better than the greek organization.

I don't know about everyone's experiences, but in mine, I never cared if someone was greek or not. I never made the comment to anyone about how they weren't in a frat. But I still, years later, get jokes from friends I have who weren't greek. Seems like the insecurity is on that end to me. That's all I'm saying.

Why couldnt he just quit and leave?

No good house will take a kid who is re rushing. If he leaves it still hurts him.

Just like GDI's think that frat guy's have the "I'm better than you because I'm greek" attitude, there are PLENTY of GDI's who have the "I'm better than you because I'm not greek" attitude. They just aren't as organized

You seriously dont think it goes both ways? Everything you have said so far is the exact reason why people take stabs at greeks.

I have never called anyone a GDI outside of a message board, especially a 30 something year old friend. Yet I will have a friend make a joke about me being greek (all in fun and I don't take offense to it), but why does that even come up???

when i played, the only important games was the fraternity league. Once you got out of that, LSU athlete teams usualy beat everyone.
