I guarantee you he embellished a lot of this. Even so, it's hell week.

The definition doesn't necessarily mean "to hold against one's will." It can entail to gain by the use of coercion. Sure, they could walk away at any time. To do so would subject them to being disqualified by their peers. However, under university rules they already had met all other requirements.
Coercion occurs by hazer using intimidation to produce an outcome. Conducting tasks that makes you physically sick is not an accepted practice.
I get the ritual nature of these organizations. Furthermore, I understand the need to have members prove themselves in some manner. Most organizations make new members perform required tasks that no one else wants to do, or meet a specified number of initiate hours. Something like cleaning up a parties, or meeting with members for individual interviews 10 times. Sure, a ceremony using mystery and symbolism to evoke a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere is one thing. However, subjecting your pledges to the consumption of spoiled food, and physically working them for aimless hours? This isn't bonding, it is a simply an act of power.
LOL Damn dude, what an analysis... that's some high brow liberal logic right there.

It's about self worth. If you ate another mans puke then you truly don't value yourself.

So because it's hell week, it's acceptable to make pledges do harmful and demeaning things for your enjoyment and to "prove" themselves? Dumbest shite I've ever read. Eating rotten dog food proves your worth

You pledged acacia with him? If you know this for a fact, go testify and get your brethren unbanned and this liar punished.

99% of pledgeship is thinking you are doing/going to have to do something way worse than what is actually the case. I highly doubt they made the pledges eat rotten food.

When did Acacia get back on campus? They were kicked off when I left.

At LSU? It must have been before I got there because they were there since I got there in 2008?

This is the first time they've ever been kicked off LSU's campus.

That dude sounds like a tremendous pussy

The shite they make you do isn't what they actually say, they just make you think it's bad just to frick with you. Hence why most hazing sessions/rituals are dimly lighted.

Is this where all the cool frat bros talk about how awesome it is doing demeaning and disgusting shite no halfway confident person would do, all for the sake of having friends in college?
I was a Greek and we did nothing like this. A little sleep deprivation during Hell Week, that was about it. We played tackle football in the front yard, and about once a week somebody brought out the boxing gloves and anybody who felt like it would spar. But it was all voluntary, active and pledge alike. Nobody was coerced.

They must have just been on a long suspension when I left because there was never anyone at their house and IIRC they were not doing rush my senior year. I could just be remembering wrong. Who care they were New Row and New Row is not Frat!
