Louisiana has some of the lowest property tax

People keep ignoring this. And the fact that sales tax increases hit the poor more than anyone.

TN sales tax is so high because there is no state income tax.

LA has state income tax and high sales tax.

A 200k home in texas is taxed at approx 4300.

A 200k home in Louisiana is taxed at approx 1300.

A person in Louisiana with a 200k home pays approx 5-6k in income tax.

So what am I missing?

Texas has lower sales tax by a good bit and no income tax and much better return on their tax money.

I think JBE sucks and I'm not a fan of the increases with limited spending cuts.

But what do Louisianians pay in property tax versus the rest of the country????

LINK

Hint: We are 2nd lowest in the country.

Give me Texas property taxes and school systen and lack of income taxes everyday of the week and 2x on Sunday.

Dollar for dollar the person with same income same house plan in Texas is making out like a bandit.

Forgot to add Texas has almost 2% lower sales tax now as well.

Property tax shouldn't even be that high given the piss poor service if any service is performed.

Dept of Transportation and Development.

The old joke was "What's orange and sleeps 4?" A DOTD work truck.

Only now they buy them white and keep them the original color.

How many millions has been spent year after year to do the same study to expand i10 at the bottleneck? Same study every year yet we spend 2 million on studies for the same project and nothing is ever done.

When he cuts 9.1billion call me. There is no reason we need a larger budget than Georgia. Just none.

We aren't even considering the virtual police state that exists on the roads in anyplace where most could afford the fines. The revenue from "unconstitutional" DUI checkpoints, brake tag/ insurance stops, traffic cameras and other less visible expenses would make that number much, much higher.

I love my home and want to come back but the cost reality is becoming nauseating...

What about it? Go look in the property tax thread. No homestead in Texas and they are paying the same in the end and gave nice things. What does your tax dollar get you in Louisiana? Bad roads bad schools and crooks for politicians.

Who cares? If you don't want to pay sales tax buy everything online and skip sales tax.

Or stop voting for people who hike up taxes.
