Total cases by collection date on or after 12/2/2020 - 27,479, plus hospitalizations equals 29,063 The number I posted yesterday using the same methodology was 28,601. There are 462 more active cases today than yesterday, an increase of 1.62%. 3,190 of the 3,275 new cases are from test dates during this time.

I can tell you the "second wave" appears to have already peaked as of last week, at least at my hospitals. The numbers didn't even get to half of the peak back in the spring.

If there are +38 deaths, shouldn't the number of hospitalizations start at-38 for that day, then +/- new hospitalizations? I've wondered this every time I see updated numbers.

It’s gotten so hard to read these numbers, which is I’m sure exactly what they want. No one can question our numbers if they don’t know what they represent.

Looking at the numbers, it does not appear they are factoring in the age of the tests when determining the Presumed Recovered.

Presumed Recovered as of 12/14: 232,725
Case count as of 12/14: 269,643
Presumed Active as of 12/14: 36,918

That's an average of 2,637 cases over 14 days. When you factor in the date of the test, there have only been 3 days between 12/01 - 12/14 with more than 2,637 cases. Quick glance the total cases per ldh from 12/01 - 12/14 is 29,904, 14 day avg of 2,136.

Coincidently, the case count on the site as of 12/01 was 237,740

Deaths aren't reported that quickly. The official death certificate has to be completed and turned into the state.

The 38 number you see today probably consists of people who died 1-4 weeks ago.

Not necessarily. Every person that dies with COVID may not have been in the hospital. Also the hospital logs are supposedly updated/reported every day.

The deaths can take over a week before being reported as an actual death (has to be classified as a COVID death w State/coroner before counted as a COVID death on the site).

LDH Nursing Home #’s

Nursing homes were closed to visitors on 3/12/20

419 new cases in the last week
7 facilities with 10 or more new cases
1 facility with 46 new cases in the last week

2493 nursing home & adult care facility deaths / 6895 total deaths = 36% deaths

Side note
I have a check up appt tomorrow, they just called & asked a bunch of questions
One was if I was coughing
Stupid me said yes, I explained I had a dry throat, I ran the heat last night
All other questions were no
They aren’t sure if I will be allowed to go to the appt., will call me back once discussed with the Dr.

They are withholding healthcare because of a virus with a 99% survival rate
How many people will miss getting something checked that could be serious?

From yesterday’s thread

quote:

There have been 50 deaths reported to the state since yesterday. The current total death count is 6,895.

Notice the drop off, that is because they chart the actual date of death
12/15 there were 50 deaths reported but 0 deaths on the 15th
It’s takes a bit for paperwork to be done & sent to LDH

There are ** 5 ** facilities without ONE case among residents ... some are rehab facilities so I'm guessing they've been able to test patients prior to admission but not positive.

One for sure is Gueydan Nursing Home ... ZERO cases among residents. That's incredible.
