I wonder what the qualifications are for testing. It seems in most states that having fever and sob is not enough. People are being turned away from the test for “not being sick enough”. If that’s the case in Louisiana, then that has to be factored into the numbers

Exactly.

In NY, where I think they are testing more than anywhere, it is very difficult to get tested.

People who pretty much 100% have it are almost all being told to stay at home and self medicate unless life-death sickness.

Probably good advice but it means that I would be very surprised if more than 5% of people who have it in NY are being tested and counted in the numbers.

New Orleans with a 11% daily increase versus Louisiana at 21%. That's from from 17% for NOLA yesterday and 21% the day before.

Also the first day that NOLA has less than 40% of Louisiana cases.

NOLA >>>> La

Honestly really positive note there since it seems NOLA jump out quick and maybe has shown some slowing.

There is no current test to know if you have already had covid.

That's not my question. If you test positive for COVID. You need to test negative twice after your symptoms subside in order to be classified as recovered.

So, how many of these negative tests are because people who once tested positive, are now in recovery mode and are starting to test negative?

Conversely, how many positives are from people testing positive multiple times waiting for the virus to work its way out to get the negative results?

I haven't heard of anyone getting a test to see if they still have covid. The ones I know were just told that they were healthy 7 days after their last symptom.

Might be why La isn't listing 'recovered'

It is my understanding the independent lab test reports are running 5-7 days behind the date the person actually went for testing. So it would be highly unlikely that at this point we already have that many people returning for 2nd and 3rd tests. Also, when they are tested for that and are no longer positive, they’ll be moved to the “recovered” statistic which hasn’t started being reported yet (either because we aren’t testing or reporting it).

Massive testing doesn’t make sense right now wile we’re shut down and under mass quarantine. It would have made sense a month ago and in the future. We’re trying to get back to as close to what the conditions were a month ago as possible and begin again. Sort of like a reset.

They can test your blood for antibodies but it is too labor intensive to do on everyone.

They are currently testing some quick tests that work like the HIV tests they use in Africa, these tests are about a month from approval and then another month from roll out. They want to know how many have had it before the second wave in the fall.

Right. Have a friend giving blood/plasma since he is considered recovered. Going to do the blood transfusions shite with his antibodies.

Dr. Birx said yesterday that private labs are now reporting numbers so I think that’s the reason for the increase in cases.

Statewide the rate is about 28% of total positives are hospitalized. If that held true for New Orleans, they’d have about 327 of the 927 total hospitalized. Of course this is totally unscientific especially since NO is running higher in just about every category.

No doubt. Think about this. What if we hadn’t relied on China to self report it. Would we even knew what it was yet? I would hope so. But I’m not so sure. Italy may have figured it out first. Doesn’t inspire confidence in the CDC.

Alternative to China self reporting is....

Some of China's false self reports are probably why we are where we are.

Or, it could be that as much as everyone tries to kick the shite out of our healthcare - it's actually better than anywhere else in the world.

Healthcare vs health insurance and healthcare billing. Two totally different things. Health insurance and billing deserve the shite they get. But our ability to make sick people better is unparalleled in the world
