Well, honey, Yorkies are rather ugly.

OP:
Yorkie Haven Rescue, Inc.

Don't buy some from some terd trying to make money off their dogs. Rescue one. Many of these are already housebroken and the ones that have "kids" stickers next to them are good with kids already.

She will sit on it and kill it. I've seen it several times with young kids and toy breeds.

If you want a purebreed, god forbid, Havaneses are good dogs, a little bigger 10-15#. I'm telling you you don't want that small of a dog for a 4yo.

Little pricey, but this is what you asked for.

Beware of "teacup" breeders. We bought a teacup shih-poo for our daughter. Its the size of a lion now.

I found one for him!

Meet Lillie! Lillie is a petite Golden Retriever mix, approximately 3 years old, and weighs around 30 pounds. This sweet girl plays well with kids but can be a little particular with other dogs. Lillie is crate trained. She is very afraid of thunderstorms and handles them best when she is not crated and has the option to retreat under a desk, or be held for reassurance. Lillie is a wonderful girl looking for a lifetime of love! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

Are you sure that dog is only 3? Looks like 7/8.

Eh.

I love all animals, but I have a preference for small dogs. And while I 100000% agree with everyone saying to avoid teacups (because that's not a real thing), suggesting something like a lab to someone who was searching for a 2lb dog is dumb.

That's like me asking for car advice and someone posting a motorcycle.

Look in the 10-15lb range. Many more options.

Jack Russel Terriers are great.

great for kids and have lots of energy but won't destroy your house. shedding might be an issue though

It's not that hard to find a reputable breeder and get a perfectly healthy dog.

I wouldn't say "it's not that hard". You have to do some serious research, and unfortunately, the OT is no where near serious research. Plus, when/if you do find a pure healthy version of this dog, you're in for a serious investment. Someone mentioned upwards of $1000, that might be for a male. Also, these "tea cup" breeds are notorious for training difficulty as well as health issues not related to the breeding process, like anytime any kind of virus is around, they'll get sick. They just have very low immune systems. Look into their expected life spans also. If your daughter is 4, plan on exposing her to the realities of life when whe's about 8. Not an enjoyable task.

Get her a much more durable dog!

From my experience, a lot of young families have lab mixes. Your preference may be small dogs, and he may have inquired about them, but I was only offering my $0.02.

With a larger dog, the kid can climb all over the dog and eventually run with it as they both get older.

I just don't get the toy dogs, especially for families. I know people have different opinions, but I'd much prefer my kid grow up with a golden or a lab or something like that.

And, typically, the best dogs for small children are the ones that have high pain tolerances and easy-going temperaments.
