But even so, she has the right to free speech and should not be fired.

Free speech protects you from being arrested. It doesn't protect you from being fired. It's not hard to understand.

I doubt she is terminated, UNLESS the parents make a big deal out of it.

When will people learn that free speech has nothing to do with employment. Free speech is not free from consequences, only free from government punishment.

Do you really want to live in a country where you cannot protest out of fear of losing your career?

I for one fully believe in protecting the right to protest as much as protecting our right to own guns.

We all would be up in arms if this teacher was being attacked for posting a picture with a firearm expressing her constitutional rights.

We cannot allow our pro-trump bias to cause us to shave the edges around a person's rights simply for the fact we don't like what they have to say.

Calling for this woman to be fired as a consequence for protesting something we do not like is in direct contradiction to the american values that have made us the worldwide lighthouse for liberty.

I'm surprised you guys haven't put the phone number up for the Superintendent to that school yet to voice your displeasure.

As long as she's not bringing her political beliefs into the classroom and pushing them on my kids and trying to brainwash them, IDGAF what she does on her free time

She chose to work for a state agency. The rules come with her decision to work as a public school teacher.

That still breaks the rules she agreed to.

It has nothing to do with pro-Trump or anti-Trump.

Not really.

I'd bet a large sum of money the election came up in her classroom.

Technically, as a state work she's not supposed to outwardly support any political movement.

This is a great example of why teachers shouldn't allow anyone outside of family and close friends to follow them.

If she's truly a theater teacher, I would expect a theatrical performance by her like no other.

Thats fine, I hope it did...but as long as she taught about it and educated the kids fairly I dont have a problem with it, but is she's pushing her own personal agenda on the kids, then I have a huge problem with it.

Im dealing with the same shite at my kids school right now and I've kept my mouth shut so far but everyday I hear more crap about the election and the things teacher and other students are saying it getting hard to stay out if it.

Let me rephrase. I'd bet a large sum of money her anti-Trump feelings made their way to the classroom.

I absolutely support her right to "protest" and I never suggested she be fired for her actions. As a teacher, she is responsible for teaching and shaping our youth. Because of social media it is very hard for many people to separate their personal lives from their public lives and when their personal lives reflect poorly on their employer then it's up to the employer to accept or punish that individuals actions.

If that is the case then does she violate article 1?:

I'm not sure that is technically a "political activity".
