Thats fine, I hope it did...but as long as she taught about it and educated the kids fairly I dont have a problem with it, but is she's pushing her own personal agenda on the kids, then I have a huge problem with it.

Im dealing with the same shite at my kids school right now and I've kept my mouth shut so far but everyday I hear more crap about the election and the things teacher and other students are saying it getting hard to stay out if it.

Certain teachers have always expressed their opinions on elections, political current events.

The Opening scene of Dazed and Confused was a PERFECT example of shite teachers do that audiences of any age could relate to.

The male black teacher gives them a life lesson using Vietnam experience.

Then the chick teacher lets loose this instant-classic movie quote:

Sooooo why is this an issue? I may disagree with everything she believes but it is a free speech issue. As long as she is using her personal time, not breaking any laws, and not using school funds or equipment - then there are no fricks given by me.

Let me rephrase. I'd bet a large sum of money her anti-Trump feelings made their way to the classroom.

there's no doubt.....

my kids came home at the beginning of the school year telling me their teachers told them if Trump were to win the presidency this country is in big trouble.....

Any idea how scary and confusing that is for a 9 and 12 year old to hear?

We, the OT, will not decide whether or not action is taken against her. Our opinions mean absolute shite. Or put another way, pretend that we are all married (males) and we give our opinion to our wives. It goes ignored because we don't mean shite.

The issue is whether or not her employer thinks she has done anything wrong. If the roles were reversed and she were a republican flipping off a prominent business owned by a democrat, you can bet that the liberals (and perhaps media) would be screaming.

Why do so many people think the first amendment protects any speech from consequences?

That movie was legit.

As far as this teacher goes. I don't mind her protesting trump. But you have to no who your audience is. It would have been smart for her to put all of her social media on private.

I would not have been a happy camper if that happens with my kid. That kind of bullshite has no business in the classroom. I can't recall any of my teachers all the way through high school ever making that kind of political statement, even in civics.

She should be fired for being a moron. Donald Trump has done nothing to her and she feels empowered by flipping off a Trump hotel? Donald Trump makes billion dollar deals and wins an election to become US President. She makes $38,000 a year. Congrats.

Which goes back to my argument. Know your audience.

I don't understand why people hate on teachers expressing political beliefs.

I enjoyed my HS civics class and American Government class because my teacher was a liberal AA woman. She taught me not only how to engage in constructive argument but also challenged my perspective/belief on things.

The only problem I see in teachers expressing themselves would be when a teacher seeks to squash students who do not align with their beliefs.

Playing the "Devil's Advocate" actually helps students learn to become free thinkers.

So because she makes lease money than DJT. Her opinion doesn't matter? That's pretty absurd logic.

It breaks the rules of her employment.

Furthermore, I'm of the opinion that her personal beliefs have no business being discussed in the classroom, especially a theater teacher.

You think this chicken is open to other people's opinions that don't align with her own?
ETA: And I'd think exactly the same way if she was pro-Trump.

She has the right to free speach and there are consequences to ones actions. Just because one can do or say something doesn't mean they should.

I don't think terminating her is the answer. If she does get fired I'm sure she'll have a law suit filed by the end of the day. This would be a PR nightmare for The school and parish.

On what grounds? She's violating the terms of her employment.

Her opinion doesn't matter because she blindly protests the president because he isn't a Democrat.
