Because romantic love is an alien concept to me now. It's a release of chemicals designed to make us procreate. It's a fleeting thing that brings pain with it when it leaves.
To be honest I was very deeply hurt the last time and if I stay cold enough and distant enough they can't get in far enough to hurt me. Like a root system. Keep it shallow enough and it won't leave a huge hole when it gets ripped out.
